what influence do you need to get protection money? and does the turf have to be there for at least 24 hours?

It needs to be there for a week and you need at least 150 influence per turf.

thanks dude even though I thats not right because I seen people do it 84. I just didn't know if you could do it at a lower influence

Haha I know I'm messing with you. You gain protection money buy placing a higher inf turf over a lower inf turf. So long as the edge of your turf can reach the center of their turf I believe. Takes about 10-15 mins for server to update, for me at least.
