Poker can be a brutal game♠♥♣♦

I decide to play a 2 dollar tourney tonight on pokerstars. 2500 players joined. Starting stack is 3000. I'm up to 12000 chips and I get bullets in the small blind (blinds 150/300). Guy in early position raises to 900 and since everyone else folded, I decided to just call so he wouldn't know how strong I was.
Flop is 5 8 king. Very good flop and I was especially happy to see a king. I check, hoping he bets and sure enough he fires 900. I raise him to 2700 and he goes all in for basically the same amount I had. Having watched him play for the last hour I had him on ace king. I call and was right. And on the turn comes a freaking king! So instead of being in the top 30 in chips with 600 left I am out and irritated. Sucks when you play perfect poker for 3 hours and get knocked out like that

Ahhh that sucks!!!

Looks like you found the only other player that cares Diz. 😺😺😺

I play 😏 its one of those games where you really have to know when to walk away

this is why I don't play tournaments. plus I never win unless it's like a single table or 3 table sit and go. I almost always end up making $ when it's a cash game. just grind.

I mainly do sit n gos, but I do really enjoy the 1-2 dollar tourneys that I can waste a night playing when I'm bored. But for the most part I stick to 5 dollar single table games and I excel at those. I've made about 80 bucks profit playing a few times a week since I started playing again 2 months ago. I know that's not a ton of money, but it takes time to accumulate profit in sit n go's.this is why I don't play tournaments. plus I never win unless it's like a single table or 3 table sit and go. I've never fared well in cash games on pokerstars.

That's why u don't call an All In unless you've got the nuts.
Learnt that the hard way several times -
I play mainly on PS too. If you play on FT, and free on Thursday Nights, here's a plug for the Twitter Poker Tour. Google it. About 40-50 play, and the competition is pretty good. Only a 5 buck buy in.

On another night you'd win, that's poker and that's why it's still gambling. All the strategy and practice can't fight off a bad card. Sucks though.

yeah and if you have a decent read on the player. sometimes lady luck is a cunt. whenever I bust out I evaluate if it was because I was being drunk or stupid. or if I was playing solid cards and just hit a bad swing.
but I usually end up busting on shit ass things like set vs set or someone riveting a boat when I flopped a flush.

Exactly. I had a pretty good feel on the guy and I was pretty confident he had a pair of kings and was a heavy fav. And he hit a two outer with two cards to go. I think that's a 90 percent favorite. You can't sit and wait to have the absolute nuts in these games... you just have to have a strong hand and make good readsTroggy 🙎👊₲➋Ⓗ wrote:

I RARELY drink and play cards for that reason that I hate losing and if I'm drinking, I don't play as smart. I love hold'em. I just played a sit n go and my aces were cracked by pocket jacks, crippling me. But, that's poker and it happens.yeah and if you have a decent read on the player. sometimes lady luck is a cunt. whenever I bust out I evaluate if it was because I was being drunk or stupid. or if I was playing solid cards and just hit a bad swing.

that's why I like cash games. you just sit and wait and wait and it's easy to dump out of hands. there's no pressure of getting blinded out and I like the little rounder kids who make weekly pilgrimages to the casino to grind and order room temp water and glasses of milk.
I don't drink like crazy when I play. but how can I turn down a nice heineken from a borgata babe? I will puff puff. find that zen quiet poker playing stillness and I will destroy.
I quit my job a couple years ago and spent about 8 or 9 months making a living off playing cards but it is so fucking boring.

Problem is if they win it costs too much. I fold and wait for another chance that doesn't require I risk my whole or most of my stack. The odds or winning may be high but the risk if u loose is great and could end your gameAmNeZ wrote:

That last bit was me not Troggy. I edit for shit.

Everyone plays there own way, my goal is to last as long as possible and in the course of a 10 hour session there are lots of hands that I fold that I would have been favored to win but the risk was too high.
If I'm sitting at a table with my friends I call anything but at the casino it's a whole different game and my goal is to win money .
Especially if u plan on sitting at the table for hours, wait it out, at some point someone will go all in and u will have the nuts and u could win a couple hundred -

I was in a similar pokerstars comp last night ... But no I didn't have 3 anything all night let alone kings so it wasn't me 😺

my worst was in a £40k gtd tourney.I ended up finishing 4th and winning £3k but it should have been £10k.I had KK and guy went all in.someone else called so I went all in too and got called.both of the players showed JJ so I thought I'd won.flop 6,7,8 turn 9 river 10.worst bad beat ever.I would have been guaranteed £10k and prob won 14k
