Since my car has been in the garage I have been getting the bus to work. I worked out that if I was to get the bus to work for a year, I would spend 16 days of my life a year travelling to work. A car I only spend 4 days getting to work a year. Although cars are more expensive I get 12 days of my life back a year to do with as I please!

I'm wrestling with this dilemma of public vs private comuting. The train would be cheaper but at the cost of about 30 extra min. My car is, well, mine. But driving i get unexpected traffic and matinence costs.... I currently choose to drive. But with gas reaching $4/gallon I might start using BART soon.

I commute using the train since about 3 years after 10 years using a car. I found that the extra time spent commuting is well worth not having to be stuck in traffic and the ability to spend time with my family in the evening. Cost wise, it is about the same.

True, I take my bike in the train but there is a limited amount of bike space and sometime you get bumped.mimosa wrote:
