In America we use the terms "college" and "university" interchangeably even though they do not mean the exact same thing.
We call what you would most likely refer to as college, high school.

i thought that they thought that college is what we refer to as community college, and university as what we think a state universities, ivy league, etc.. better schools💞welshgal💞 wrote:

Maybe you're right.
Can we get some help from a Brit? What do you mean when you say "college"? And what do you call the school you go to from ages(approx) 14-18?
-
And also, is "Brit" derogatory?
-
I think your safe on that one. Lol

Nah think it's ok, safer than calling a scot or Taff English that's for sure. And also, is "Brit" derogatory?
Mandatory education ends at 16 usually in gcse exams although I think there are changes now, after this age you can go onto further education in the shape of college or more confusing 6th form. Start this at 16.
Following this you can go to Uni. Start this at 18.Welshgirl I won't cap you, but it does get busy in these parts so u might get capped by someone or many others
-
Just choose a direction and see how far you can travel in the time available.
-
U go to school until u are 16, start college or sixth form until 18/19 then gon onto university..... In the UK
-
I amend my statement
All you university students are the same, I'm up there rambling about Greeks and your hopping turfs!
-
Greek mythology or turf hopping..... You decide 👊👊👊

Thing that makes mr laugh is that there is no such thing as a true Englishman as far as I can see through history(correct me if wrong please) but my knowledge is that we are celts and Nordic n Saxon .....which means we a mix...like Irish u have celts and the Spanish and gypsy/Romany I believe!! So we all have influences ....wen ppl say go back to Wales it's pretty naive to think if u British that u haven't got almost immediate within few generation scotts welsh and Irish blood....we would have to have....I like the Jamaican motto.."out if many ...1 people" it's nice and empowering....although they have many probs with class, from way I see jamaicans are some of the most non racially motivated ppl(in general) n most racism that would eminate from prob mire older generation is well founded by their treatment of the spanish British n Americans, there were Arawak Indians there before Columbus ever went there....
