I just found out that the beer tasting event I'm going to on Saturday will be featuring a lottery for 10 people to win a 'taste' of Brew Dog's Sink the Bismark....There's less than 50 people RSVP'd to the tasting so far, the odds are good, hope I win!!

It's only $35...that amounts to only 4 beers or 3 martini's downtown :)

True. Billy (from the padre game) & I are supposed to go see Black Swan this weekend, but I keep thinking about the tasting.

I had to look that up because I dont know of any beer yeast that can survive past around 20% abv. (most around 12%) But it's for real. It looks like they distill it to get to 41% So i don't know if it's truly a beer at that point or a spirit. But I do know I want one. 😜🍺

You generally have to use a more hearty yeast when going over even 6%. Champagne yeast is most common, I think that will get you up to 12% or so before they kill themselves in their own alcohol production.

Yeah, weirds me out that they get it that high,
I believe some of the true ipa's from the empire times used to get as high as 16% with ultra hardy yeast, but that's still less than half way to STB...

It's advertised as the first 50 to sign up are guaranteed entry...I know the Best Damn Beer Shop guys, and if you were to show up at the start or fairly early, I may be able to flex my powers of persuasion. I'm literally going down the list, looking up some of these beers and picking the order I want to try based on the rarity of the beer...there will be a lot of beer dorks there vying for some of those rarer brews.

Sushi's definitely out of your league; but getting up to speed on 'good' beer...it's not only fun, but it's not that difficult either ;)

'Craft Beer Geek', think the British translation is 'Real Ale Twat', but I'll admit to partaking in a pint or lots. Get your buzz on, get a vomit on, more like. I'm going to a winter beer festival at the weekend, only 50 beers on, but I'll report back on the best. If I can remember!

Definitely fun. Last beer festival, I came back w/ a new favorite IPA. :D

I'm glad I'm not a Brit. I'd rather be called a geek then a twat. In the states geek=enthusiast, twat=vagina.
