But, u mess up on say maths, ur gonna struggle getting in to your first choices at the next stage of education. In fact, most employers these days prefer experience over paper, unless it's a very specific field. Mind you I've been self-employed 4 years now so things could have changed again.Evil Joey wrote:
Most employers look for a levels and university qualifications.most of them don't care about gcses as they are quite early and your a levels are more importantWell, it's SORTA like standardized testing like u yanks have. EXEPT that these are QUALIFICATIONS. You use these to get into University and later a job

My dad works at Qualcomm. It's a software developing company. They used to (I think they still do) supply Nokia with phone software, and without software a phone is a piece of shit 💩

I'm doing interviews tomorrow. This statement is true😿. In 15 years I have NEVER checked Anyones qualifications. Yeah. You would loose your job if you lie (legal binding contract) but there are easier ways of ' performance managing'. The real world truth is...... 'do I like you?' Can I spend 10 hours a day with you without wanting to rip out your throat? No matter of pay structure, level. Comes down to your profile and personality.😺Agreed... The only thing GCSE's are good for is to enable you to take A-levels.... Once in the working world you can make up what your GCSE results were, no one gives a shit.

I can't figure out if these are like the standardized test that must be passed to allow you to graduate high school or if they are more like SATs.

So these are basically the equivalent to an American PSAT or SAT. SAT's are for getting into college over here and PSAT's are to get you ready for sats. And we take them throughout high school so usually 2 years you take PSAT's and the last two years (junior and senior years) we take SAT. Or atleast that's what it's like at my school. I know at most schools they have PSATs at junior year and sat's at senior.

I clearly don't understand what an A-level is so that doesn't help. It sounds like it might be the equivalent of an SAT. If you have to take a GCSE to be allowed to take them though, then I don't think the US has an equivalent for that. (The PSAT is not a requirement for the SAT.)Mystery wrote:

I went to private school so we actually took the PSATs in middle school.

You dont graduate as such in the UK but I would imagine that getting GCSEs is the closest match. It's the end of mandatory school. A levels are what enable you to go to university.
Does that help at all? -
Oh And evil joey good luck!
