Send them all messages to introduce yourself.
Find a code site (my personal choice is mobcode.org) and start adding to your mob. Get your mob as large as you can while you're still below level 35 (or is it 40) when you lose all protection from the don.
Read the help and strategy forum, at least all of the sticky threads.

And try not to build new turf underneath other, larger turf. You can't build out to 84 influence until I think level 30, and if a larger influence turf is covering yours (even partially), you will lose money to that mobster.

Diplomatic aggressiveness'. Try to hold your ground and not get kicked around while still being humble and aware of the others who cam squash you in a millisecond. Research your neighbors and introduce yourself. See who is a capper and who is passive. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most are very willing, while there are a few who get off on screwing noobs. Keep punching codes and you'll be fine.
