I was punching in codes when I noticed my fingers beginning to sting a little (thought it was because I had a mad code punching session) so I had a rest.. Didn't think much of it until I picked it back up again and it zapped me quite hard in the finger... I quickly unplugged I from my laptop as it was charging, the phone was fine again.

Now everytime i plug it back in it gives me a shock around the silver strip on the phone (3GS).. I googled it and it seems to be quite common among iPhones!

I hate it and it's so annoying!! Thanks apple!

My iTouch at the bottom gets real hot if I use it and charge it via wall charger. It was oddly comforting. 😳

I had that issue with my iPod a little while back. Turns out it was the connector cable. There was a crack in the top where the 32 pin side was. So I tried a new one I got with my iPod and within a week a break in the wire opened up. Now I'm back to the original one but with electrical tape 😺. So try seeing if it's the cable. It doesnt sound like it is but you never know.

Same thing happened to me, they switched it but cos it took them so long to switch it I convinced them to upgrade me earlier to iPhone 4

It's the cable that's dodgy for mine. Only leaks volts though (35v) and only when it's plugged into my laptop not the mains.

Try a new 30 pin cable. Had an aftermarket charger that did that. Went back to regular charger and no more shock

Ye I've tried that! But it still zapps me, jus so annoying! Might get another one soon it could have broken on the inside!
Doesn't zap me when plugged in to a wall charger thou using the same cable... Only on my laptop

Lol.. No its apples own! Had one of those dodgey wall chargers a while back, made my touch screen go funny when it was plugged in!
