Did they change the name to "stupid pride parade"? Don't think so, pretty sure it's gay pride parade still, held globally. So who determined it changed? A bunch of teeny boppers, too stupid(sorry "gay") to know what their talking about or to stupid(sorry again "gay") to know when to zipit.ChainedHunter wrote:
To all u assholes who fucking tried to make me feel like a douchebag(by correcting me and it didn't work) I solely meant that I didn't mean that the spellcheck was literally gay, I only meant that I meant that I didn't like it and alot of ppl don't use gay as homosexual anymore.
You're just reinforcing Bella's point. When take a term with a real meaning, and use it in derogatory way, you demeaning all that term pertains to.

Yes. You are. On several levels. Not all of us are pussified.

Gay always refers to a group of people; you are using it as a synonym for something demeaning, which means it's always offensive and hurtful. Used in a hateful way, sure it can be prejudice... But only if directed at someone/group. Saying something is gay, not someone, and getting offended by it proves the Governor of Pennsylvsnia's point about the further pussification of America.

You know what? We owe ChainedHunter an apology. He was right in the adaptation of the word gay. It wasn't really until the 20th century even that it was aimed at homosexuality.
And, there's this:
The Gay class were a class of twelve fast patrol boats that served with the Royal Navy from the early 1950s. All were named after types of soldiers or military or related figures, prefixed with 'Gay'. The class could be fitted as either motor gun boats or motor torpedo boats, depending on the type of armament they carried.
So watch out for them gay torpedoes, everybody.

You are offensive

Me? Wasn't meant to be.

I offended some Dorks the other day when I said something was Dorky. Then I offended the a lot others when I said something was Stupid. Live and learn I guess. Would I offend mentally handicapped people as well for saying I'm now dumber having read this thread.

pussification - think we can get this as a new word in Websters Dictionary?

Only if it's accompanied by a picture of Obama.

Curious what definitions you're referring to. Neither your dictionary nor your thesaurus will list stupid and gay together.bee ryan wrote:

The term gay was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy"; it had also come to acquire some connotations of "immorality" as early as 1637.[1]
The term's use as a reference to homosexuality may date as early as the late 19th century, but its use gradually increased in the 20th century.[1] In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and occasionally as a noun, referring to the people, practices, and culture associated with homosexuality. By the end of the 20th century, the word gay was recommended by major style guides to describe people attracted to members of the same sex.[2][3] At about the same time, a new, pejorative use became prevalent in some parts of the world. In the Anglosphere, this connotation, among younger speakers, has a derisive meaning equivalent to rubbish or stupid (as in "That's so gay."). In this use the word does not mean "homosexual", -
so it can be used, for example, to refer to an inanimate object or abstract concept of which one disapproves. This usage can also refer to weakness or unmanliness. When used in this way, the extent to which it still retains connotations of homosexuality has been debated.[4][5]

Yes that's exactly what I was saying!
-
IMO it should never be used as a synonym for stupid. It's not like we suffer from a dearth of synonyms. Apparently we have even added one: chainedhunter (or ch). So kids, you can now say, "Omg, that is so ch!"

Bella's response is why we can now use chainedhunter as a synonym. IMO = in my opinion. "Wats" is spelled "what's."ChainedHunter wrote:
To the ignorant it means that. I don't know anything about you (besides your ignorance), so I can't use any specific examples, but what if the new slang for something stupid or something you dislike was "ChainedHunter"? As in, "Omg, Justin Beiber is so ChainedHunter." You can't help that you're ChainedHunter & now people associate "ChainedHunter" with something negative even though it's something you have no control over. How would that make you feel?Gay doesn't mean homosexual anymOre. Now it means stupid annoying or something you don't like. Well people don't rly use it as homo anymore

FYI I'm not a fucking third grader. I know how to spell "what's" my finger slipped.

LOL at the rest of the thread!

If you get offended by every single thing then more fool you. Your obviously very weak minded individuals that need to get a grip on the real world... Remember sticks and stones? I guess one thing about us Brits is that we don't take offence to silly words that mean naff all in the end.
Anyone watch 'Frankie Boyle' now there is a man who tells it like it is!
If he read this thread..... That would put you all in your place
