Philosophy corner-is this all a pointless waste of time?

Is playing this game largely a waste of your time? Will you look back on your months playing this in a decade and think yes that was time well spent.
Goodbye cruel world.

Obviously nobody wishes to face the unpalatable truth.
-
Well it's also just 5 am the day after Christmas. But yes it's a waste of time, but what else would we be doing
-
I personally find the tactical side of the game, plus the slight math a better mind workout than brain training or soduko. Nothing like trying to second guess multiple possible opponents to get the little grey cells working. Lol

It depends how u look at this game, if u look at it as just a game then yeah u will probably think it was a waste of your time, but if u look at it as a stress buster like many of us do, then it's not time wasted. This is the most social game ive ever played, the forums are just great for a cheer up, and alot of players are happy to give advice, like I've been suffering alot of headaches recently including a 4 day migraine, a post on this game quickly revealed that I was not the only one, and peoples advice on here is the reason why that 4 day migraine didn't hit 5 days, that was not a waste of time, so it all depends how u use the game and how u view it :) This game is very much about being social and communication, if u don't want to be social then u won't get the full fun of the game.

Waste pointless time .....
I look back and think dam I've watched Alot of crap shows on tv. Now that was a waste of time. But it didn't give me " code punching nightmares" -

I just started reading Hollywood Station by Joseph Wambaugh.

I just deleted the game Civilsation Revolution as I realised I had played it for three hours this morning and I could have carried on for hours without any player winning.
Pfft!

When you have about 80 years in which to fulfil a grand purpose that takes only about 20, human life itself has time to kill.

Unless you do something that will help the world when and after you die then most things are pointless.
-
I think your reading of philosophy will be more valuable than playing TW.
With this knowledge you can impart something far more useful to the world than the rules or experiences of an online game.

Not at all. First off the forums here can be a pretty good source of knowledge themselves. Plus the social atmosphere of the game can give one a full on taste of diversity that is hard to find elsewhere.I think your reading of philosophy will be more valuable than playing TW.

You know what that means, right? The cops will throw your body in a field to see how long it takes to decompose. Maybe they will do ballistics testing on you. Or maybe you'll get to be dissected by a medical student who will finally say "screw it. I'm going to law school". Maybe they'll plasticize you, mount you on an ostrich with a basketball in your hand.Great Game Dev wrote:

Human cadavers are abundant. It's likely you would be used for something you wouldn't like.

What are you doing with your other thumb?Hey Scordecchia, you need to learn how to us the quote function. Belial raises many good points, but I do not appreciate having his quote attributed to me👊❕👍

In the end isn't everything a waste of time? Except for maybe eating and sex.

So does the world need fewer philosophers and more TW participants?

Im quite happy wasting time,I spend long enough having it wasted by others, least this way,I'm using heed, instead of back

Though Body Worlds is a remarkable thing if the only way available to you for your life to have meaning is death then enjoy the worms.
An individual must choose to make their life meaningful. The ways to do this are as innumerable and limited as the imagination and perception to discover or create possibility.
I suggest you find what gives your life value. Then, prioritize elements in your life to support those values. This is a way to virtue.
From your conversation you percieve the advancement of science as a benefit. Donate to the cause. If it is instead giving to others there are plenty of charities. If you want to actually help with your own hands there are groups like Habitat for Humanity. If you care about environmental issues there are many groups in this area. Whatever you feel adds value should be done now. Good luck in your pursuits! 👍Lots of exciting opportunities!
