Has anyone ever tried planting turfs whilst on a plane? Is it possible? You could spread the love so much quicker...

How would you get a GPS lock-on going that fast?

That's what I'm questioning, if you tried would it work? Cause you can get a turf traveling at 100mph, but not so sure about 300-600?How would you get a GPS lock-on going that fast?

I tried it going Spain. Logically I knew it wouldn't work but had to double check. You don't get signal up there.
-
It works but you need a cell signal. Sometimes around takeoff and landing you might have a signal.

Yup. As V said, that would work if u can lock on to a gps signal but in-flight no chance.VADAN wrote:

I tried to add turf while driving and the radius was about 4 blocksbehind me. Worked at the light though.skyman724 wrote:

You can get a signal. The problem is you're hitting so many cell towers at one time and handing off so quick, it's practically worthless.

And some domestic US flights now offer wifi. but the wifi connects over cellular service.
Or the router will be registered to th airlines home office, and when you get off the plane and plant turf in your actual location, you may end up with two turf many hundreds or even thousands of mile apart planted in under an hour, So it's more likely you will be viewed as spoofing and possibly reset.

Tried it. Can't get signal and no the plane didn't crash. Your way to high to get signal. Unless u have a satellite iPhone lol

That's because the map does not refresh your location in real time.

Not entirely correct. Getting a signal highly depends on the type of flight and location. More chance on domestic. And even if u get a network signal u still need a gps signal...You can get a signal. On wifi, at least on ipod, you're gps location comes from the routers you connect to.

Great Post, I was going to try on my next wifi enabled flight across the country next month. Thanks to CC for the heads up about the prospect of being seen as spoofing.

And just a quick note about spoofing- Planting turf in an area you are not physically in and have no turf is spoofing. Doesn't matter if you use a program (software spoofing) to do it, or if the router places you somewhere you are not (hardware spoofing).
