There are vids on YouTube how to fix it. Motherboard in the oven I think. Unless you have a heat gun ( hair dryer might work).

Both only temperary fixes. Best bet is to get a new ps3, i suggest the new ps3 slim.

I've took it all apart. I think it's the fan that's gone so I'm just going to replace it. But the most devastating thing is that black ops is in the playstation. I've broke a couple games by moving the ps3 whilst a games inside. Im so gutted.

Jus recently got told about this, my ps3 is the 1st gen 40gb, heard it affects the slim ones. My ps3 is 3 years old!

Not even RROD is way more common. We got it like 4 times. We got YLOD once. :(
Had the original 60GB PS3 (still do), and now we have a 120GB Slim. It happened last year though.

My mate got that so my dads repairing it free of charge, theirs no perm fix but if u have a heat gun and a steady hand then look up a fix online and u can repair it

I could explain what u need to do basically but it would take farrr to long, if Sony can't perm fix it hence why they only give it a 3 month warranty on their repair cos that's the minimum amount of time the fix will work for

I think I'll just get the new ps3 slim 360gb because I do not want to fix it then it goes ahead and breaks again.
