But i play guitar and tought myself, i know its not bass but same skill you know? Difrent sound and style but still basicly the same thing. I just looked up slow songs i liked to start, make a list of songs you think you could play and go to a tab site. I use ultimateguitar.com
But dont give up on a song, the first solo i tryd to play was settle for nothing by rage against the machine, first time i tried it was a train wreck, but i didnt stop, now i can play it as a warm up hahaha, basicly persistance is key. -
Figure out a way to get some lessons but practice, practice, practice that is the key. I was a piano major in college they required me 5+ hrs a day practice! whew.

Study your cycle of fifths and your modes. Practice, most importantly, practice

Spend some time on ActiveBass.com...handy site. Beginner to advanced lessons. Built metronome or drum beat. Tons of tan and notation for tons of songs. Oh and smoke some smoke...that helped too 🍁

Tan=tab

Listen to bands like meshuggah and try and sync up with the bass drum. A few hours a day and you'll be a rhythm god

This is good advice. There is a bass book by this author that is worth while.
http://guitargrimoire.com/
As well, learn to read key signatures and notes. It is not difficult. The system is actually fairly simple. I cannot tell you how practical this is if you are serious. The more you do it the easier it is.
Use a metronome or a beat. Not doing this is a big mistake. Learn different time signatures. They have aps for this.
Buy the real book app. It has a band to play with, music, and notes. Fantastic deal!
The guitar tool kit ap is incredible as well.
Record yourself practicing alone and with yourself.
Private message me for more. I've been playing a long time and have tried s lot of things.
Smart practice is better than lots of practice.

Just buy a starter bass book and learn out of that. It's what I did

Primus is amazing but he often uses a classical bass(more strings) plus probably has the most involved playing style so good luck
-
Wow is that how kids know primes now? Been listening to them for around 15 years now...I feel old. 90s ftw.

Seriously tho, lot's of practice, especially w a click track or drum machine. When ur ready find a drummer and learn to improvise and play off each other.

Yeah, should be a killer show. The Residents are opening up. Btw, a buddy of mine has an extra pair of tix for the night before new years (12/30). If u r in the area and ur interested then lemme know and I'll hook u up. ;)

Wish I was going to see primus 😞

The residents!? Now way. I'm still convinced that les claypool has something to do with that band. Anyone know for sure?

Also, just saying, awesome bass in a song, take the power back by rage against the machine, look it up 👍

Sorry to say empror k but theres not really a fast way to learn or get better besides play and practice and repeat. But every one does learn diffrently. I say try a few of the methods listed and see which worked best.
