Avatar. Fail or epic? 😲

So, wat was he movie avatar like? In my opinion the effects and CGI were amazing, but the story could be a little more complex.
-
No it was amazing period.
-
Great eye candy, after watching it though I went outside and punched a tree. Fucking hippy plot.
-
Good film! However I wanted the humans to decapitate each and every one of those damn na'vi. That guy who betrayed his race to help the aliens is the guy I hate most in the world! Gggrrrrrrrrrr!
-
Good effects don't make up for a boring and predictable story.

I don't rate it. Pretty boring

"Unubtainium"!? FAIL!

I thought of it as "Cowboys and Indians". It what it was like in a way.
-
And there is another one being made

Absolutly a masterpiece

As a package, the story and the effects I think it worked, having watched it in 2d on blueray I was noticing all the faults, so as a cinema film I think it worked but any other emviroment it didn't do so well.
That's my 2 cents anyway. -
Epic fail. Good, even great, even legendary, graphics don't and can't make up for a recycled plot. Pocahontas in space anyone? I don't understand this anti-technology or anti-progress trend that runs through society. Do you understand that you are watching a movie that is the antithesis of itself? The bad guys are the tree killers says the 3D CGI moving talking picture being projected in an temperature-controlled building that has flushing toilets, running water and even giant f-ing pickles for sale in the middle of the winter or the summer! And nacho cheese, which of course is not actually cheese made the milk that comes out of cows because they eat; no its processed pasteurized cheese product!! Because we don't use technology of any sort to make that crap!

Please lets go back to a day when million of people died unnecessarily because we thought cutting someone open and letting them bleed would make the sickness go away! Or let's get rid of the internal combustible engine so that it takes weeks or months to find out what is happening in the world around us. Or let's go live in trees and mud huts so that our survival is more weather-dependent and not skill-based. We wouldn't any losers or winners...

Avatar had good graphics which I thought counted for a lot.the plot was crappy but at the cinema in 3-d I was concentrating on the picture more than the storyline(which admittedly was shit)but the whole technology will make future films so much better
-
I liked it

I never seen a movie so clear! My Sony tv rocks! Story did kinda suck guess it's just a "base"? For number 2
-
Think about this: the plot of Avatar is basically the same as Pocahontis (sp.?) There's the Na'vi (Indians) who are there until a guy from the marines (John Smith) comes there, who is originally sent to destroy them, but doesn't cause he turns good. Then there's a war, Na'vi against humans (Indians against British)

three hours of my life I can never take back. don't want to make the same mistake twice.

is that who you dress up as at the Disney parks, belial?

I personally think that Jake Sully shouldve not betrayed the humans as the human race probably dies because of him. Earth was polluted and dying, and Pandora was their only hope, but the navi got leery over a few trees being cleared for a base for the humans to live in.

No that was just the RDA corporation, a mining company. The rest of the humans were soldiers hired by RDA, scientists, doctors, and a few pilots and engineers. Most humans thought that the RDA were wrong and tried to protest, but the RDA Corporation blackmails them by saying that the minerals under the navi village was the only thing paying to stop them being sent back to earth again.Evil Joey wrote:

I guess I'm a little confused. Did the people who are complaining about the movie watch a different movie than I did? I see some complaining that it was a tree-hugger movie...I see others complaining that it was an anti-technology/anti-progress movie. Did everyone miss the fact that the reason the Na'vi were trying to save their tree/planet was because the local flora basically held the spirits of everyone who had previously passed...they weren't just trying to save trees or prevent furthering tech/progress Are you telling me if you knew that your relative's spirit/life-force was actually in the plants around that you would be like "Tear that shit down!" Give me a break!

Stupid hippie tree hugging plot...copy of at least 10 other hippie movie plots, and nothing new or groundbreaking about it other than the 3d and cg. Cameron didn't get a single dime of my money, either. Epic fail.
Oh, and back in the day, Oakley used to call the material they made their ear and nosepieces for their sunglasses 'unobtainium.'. They need to sue the shit out of him.
