Because religious values shape people's personal morals, they are totally relevant to politics. In fact, this is protected under the First Amendment. To say you shouldn't base any political beliefs on your religious standpoint is fundamentally anti-American.

Some eastern catholic groups sent representatives to be there for the pope’s funeral I think, or for the conclave’s decision to elect pope Leo.
There are I think churches within the catholic church that can get permission to do a mass in Latin. Might be worth looking at?
