My first milestone in the fire service...IFSTA curriculum Basic FF 1, Section 1. Three more sections and I will be FF1 certified, which is recognized nationally (theoretically certified for any fire department in the country).

Exam wasn't hard, but it's still cool cuz it was my first one.

Congrats. When you get done with ff1 just keep rolling and take 2. It's pretty much the same just a little more in depth. Not sure about where you are but we needed an few other pre recs to get the cert but you can take them together

Yah, several ppl have said the same thing bow. Our company is big on pushing training too, so I'm sure I'll prolly swing straight into II. I'm eastern PA.

Yup...one of the most satisfying jobs I've ever done. There is no pay better than going home knowing that you've done good work worth doing.

The actual cash pay? Yeah...not so much. Emergency Services really aren't for people who are out to make as much money as they can.

Thank you so much for choosing to be a fireman. As I live in California, where we have large fire seasons, I have the utmost respect for them.
