What is the turf wars community’s thoughts on this guy for what he allegedly did to Brian Thompson? Hero or just another psycho?
-
Some people have it coming. You deny life saving care for profit routinely you’re going to piss off someone willing to follow through eventually.
-
I’m interested to know what he says about what he did and what the motives were behind it. I assume this was motivated by revenge because of the loss of a loved one.
-
That whole family seem to have some set of eyebrows on them.
-
He came from a very wealthy family and he was a Valedictorian of his class. I read he had major back surgery before distancing himself from family and friends and spinning out of control. Pain and prescription drugs most likely played a part in all of this.
-
No way that he was caught in a mcdicks with the gun used days prior, 10 grand and a fake ID. dudes either the Patsy or a dumbass. I don't think he's the guy. That's like shit out of a my first criminal offence playset. It would be cool though if health care companies actually did their job instead of trying to milk every cent out of the people who already pay for their services/auto denying coverage to save themselves a few bucks.

If anyone is familiar with the show Ozark, that kind of stuff is real. My previous boss man did a job in Puerto Rico, and came across like the third in command of some cartel there. The dude asked to use my bosses business to move money through. He said it was tempting, but he knew better. Also, some of the other cartel members showed my previous boss and other employees said they showed them videos of beheading people. My point is, there are evil people in this world that have no issue killing to get what they want.

I think the situation got the rich realising they aren’t untouchable.
Maybe your see changes in the way the system is over there, maybe your see them refusing more people care? Who knows - all I know is it could be the start of a change that the states need…
Healthcare should be accessible to all (here in Ireland, you pay certain fees which is capped)
-
I think supporting I’m is insane and proves that we live in an unhealthy society. To push it even farther, the same people I’ve seen come out in his defense are the same people who want Daniel Penny in jail. Scary to think people rather have an untrained violent vigilante running around rather than a man protecting himself and others others on a subway.
-
It is a side effect of the ACA’s failure.
-
Almost like I've seen this before. Wait.... I did. Denzel Washington made a movie very similar. John Q I believe.
-
Obviously murdering someone is wrong, but I also think that it's sad that our healthcare system is in such a state that people feel like celebrating when a man is gunned down in the streets. I guess I understand the sentiment, but don't condone the method in which this dude went about getting his message heard.
Although a lot of people probably feel that nobody is listening, and think that killing a ceo is the only way to get the attention of the corporations. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen. -
Note that blue cross rolled back a really bad idea about refusing to pay for anesthesia past a certain time point shortly after the murder. Obviously correlation does not equal causation, but dang is that timing convenient.

USA healthcare went from optional to mandatory universal healthcare but did no go single payor. The ACA, instead, regulated how much and for what should be paid. With Medicare via CMS now being the most utilized payment system (everyone on state programs go thru CMS as well as everyone on Social Security Security), they (CMS) are dictating reimbursement rates and acceptable charges & services. CMS is government ran. Private insurance thru the ACA marketplace or thru employers no longer have leverage in cost controls for meds or services- so that increases loopholes and technicalities for non payment of claims or non approval of services. Benefit of single payor system is the elimination of all the middlemen companies saving hundreds of millions per year ( claim techs, insurance agents, analysts, managers, supervisors etc) - downside is it is one payor - their rules their decisions and only game in town- government ran.
-
And yes Medicare is Medicaid- just by a different name- both are CMS - Center for Medicaid Services- a federal government entity
-
https://www.cms.gov/
-
Also important is the CMS model for managed healthcare is a geographical area dollar amount maximum reimbursement- not individual specific- so the managed healthcare agency assigned does not get reimbursed based on cost of a patient care but a median average cost per patient on a national average. If the geographical area has a higher elderly or disabled population- they will be severely underfunded - if the geographical area is primarily healthy youth and younger adults- they will be severely overfunded.
-
The chronically ill, disabled and retirees are limited in income so they move to lower cost of living areas to get by. That would be rural areas and as a result those areas end up with higher % of populations with chronic medical issues and underfunded services compounded with a significant decrease in availability of services in their communities.

Correct- private and ACA marketplace place insurance plans do have copayment and other limitations on how much they will pay & how much you will pay. CMS services, for the majority of who they cover also have deductibles or co pays- generally they are much less than the private insurance companies- part A Medicare has a $1600 deductible and coinsurance obligation of patient of $408/ day hospitalization after 60 days. That is why they also offer medi gap insurance coverage for part A and Part B Medicare
-
For Medicaid- it also depends on each state’s requirements- most states have cost sharing provisions but by an large, since it is a poverty / needs based aid program- most recipients do not see a bill. It is dependent on the income of a patient and the state’s adopted rules of coverage

Although these insurance companies are mostly run by scumbags, murdering them is probably one of the stupidest things you can do. It does nothing and it makes it harder for the rest of us. Everyone can find a ends to any means as far as their imagination goes. His Manifesto, he sounds like a complete moron.

Murder is not the best choice, but what do you propose would have been a better way for him to get his point across? Y’all notice the big corporations are now hiding the corporate profiles and pictures? That’s all public information if you look it up.
