That’s a horrible plan. What? You can blend into those societies well enough not to be stoned to death for looking odd, not die from whatever virus they are all immune to, not have your arms chopped off for stealing.. Then you are going to overload your poor donkey with one bag of gold, dig a deep enough hole with a wooden shovel you had to carve yourself on land you don’t own…. No. I’d just do the Emma thing probably. It’s a lot easier.

You can always go back in time to your locality and bury gold that way, besides you don’t have to blend in, trade was common so just pose as a trader. Or you can toss the gold in the sea and fish it out later. A better idea just hit me, go back to Ancient Greece (pre Bronze Age collapse or golden age of Athens) find locations of shipwrecks carrying gold, come back, fish it out. Most of it won’t have been stolen because they couldn’t get it back to the surface
