Eh, Lowe's is full of employees who don't know what a plumb bob is, and 3 of Depots employees were stumped as to what a "roll of felt" was. I think you'd be better of plopping a Depot turf on a local mom and pop hardware store to rustle some jimmies. It's like calling an orangutan a gorilla to its face. It might hear your words, but there's no real connections being made in its brain other than "creature make noise at me"

Exactly. They usually don't know their own shit from a shovel.

I was at Home Depot and asked for furnace filters (before I loaded the app). Had to tell her how to spell “furnace”. 🥴

Tbf they sell the stuff and don’t use it. I used to work at Lowes before getting into construction and honestly didnt know what 80% of the shit was. I wanted to know more and even asked if Lowes had any computer courses on items in certain sections of the store, but I was told there wasn’t. I have learned a lot more about what is in the store working outside of it🤣 You gotta realize no one tells us youngins wtf anything is, and then call us dumb for not knowing. Apprenticeship needs a comeback!Eh, Lowe's is full of employees who don't know what a plumb bob is, and 3 of Depots employees were stumped as to what a "roll of felt" was. That's good you asked, and it's a shame they don't have any sort of courses. That's their downfall, not being ready and available to teach the people who want to work there. Can't sell someone an item if you've never heard of it or even know what department they might be found. I am thankful enough that the hardware store I worked at was small and customer service focused. I learned so much from shooting the shit with tradesmen all day. I'm a bit biased too since it was a big part of my job just talking shit with customers about Depot and Lowe's lol

almost got thrown out of a Home Depot for asking where I could find a Kreg Jig. The kid thought I was calling him a racial slur. Dude told me to leave the store. I didn’t understand what had just happened so I had another employee call the manager while I was speaking with security. I had to pull the item up on the Home Depot website to show them it was a tool and not a racial slur. I don’t shop at Home Depot anymore.
