Anyone here big on gardening? What will you grow this year? I have to garden on my balcony in pots but man do I love the peacefulness when my plants are growing and I can just just chill with them and vibe and talk about life and stuff. I'm gonna be planting some assylum ground cover cause I like the way they look and plenty of flowers. might try some greens again this year but the aphids always ruin it for me

This year I’m planting cauliflower, bush beans, kale, cucumbers, squash/zucchini, and eggplant.
I planted a bunch of milkweed to try to attract monarchs this year, and will try marigolds to see if they help with the cucumber beetles. I have had trouble with squash bugs, but have learned better how to manage them.
The yarrow and echinacea that I planted last year look healthy, and we should see a nice bloom this year.

English & bush cucumbers, pumpkins, bottle gourds, bib, romaine & another variety of lettuce, cherry & San Marino tomatoes.
Peaches, golden raspberries and fig trees do their own thing so don’t really consider that gardening -

We got ravaged one year and have kept the marigolds going ever since, no more beetles.

Mostly just herbs really: parsley, thyme, rosemary, tarragon, chives, etc.
I do have a couple tomato trees -

Check your local Home Depot kind place and see if they have ladybugs for sale They eat aphids. As for other bugs ants etc. you can put a ring of lye around the base of the plants.Anyone here big on gardening? What will you grow this year? I was going to try some diatomaceous earth! Gonna sprinkle it on the dirt before they even think about it⫷𝕽𝖊𝖊𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖏𝖚𝖆𝖓𝖆⫸ wrote:

Was waiting for a lady bug recommendation. Yes they are store bought. I believe spearmint will keep some pests away, but bunnies love it I believe.⫷𝕽𝖊𝖊𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖏𝖚𝖆𝖓𝖆⫸ wrote:

In the same boat with the balcony garden. Last year I was overambitious and tried to grow carrots, zucchini and lettuce in the same planter. The lettuce and carrots grew alright but the zucchini was comically bad. This year I'm going to stick to herbs and maybe some carrots.
