Why did I always imagine the wrapping being soft and not like hard and fried? Would have been way better with a crepe or something as the wrap

If I learned how to make them that would be dangerous. But one day I'll attempt it, and when I do it'll be a crepe. Or two, since they're thin and don't want them to burst

I feel like you didn’t have a great one. You need one from an authentic Italian restaurant. When the center is done right, the crispness makes it even better.

I feel like you didn’t have a great one. You need one from an authentic Italian restaurant. When the center is done right, the crispness makes it even better.
Don't get me wrong it was pretty damn good! But, yea a little too crunchy. It was pretty hard though, not like stale but maybe too fried. Or they probably make them way in advance
