I’m helping out noobs in order to keep new players that will enjoy the game.
Can someone explain cap limit for them?? I know but having a hard time explaining it with turf limit etc…

Cap limit is your level x your level x .005= how many turf can be capped from you. To determine how many you can cap from someone else replace your level with theirs

No to be confused with your capture radius or distance. Which is how close in yards or meters someone has to be to your turf in order to capture it.

Cap limit: depends on level
Cap radius: depends on mob count.
Plant cost: depend on turf limit and congestion. -
Found the below in my notes, numbers seem to work for my current level.
*Not sure if the same works for below lvl100 (maybe fixed cap limits or @x0.5 yr lvl)
Cap limits
+1.26 turf every new level from lvl 100Level = Cap Limit
100 = 50
105 = 56.3
110 = 62.6
113 = 63
115 = 68.9
120 = 75.2
125 = 81.5
130 = 87.8
135 = 94.1
140 = 100.4
145 = 106.7
150 = 113
160 = 126.6
170= 139.2 -

Capturing a turf:
In addition to the check list on the turfs profile its also about your attack score vs their defense score. And this depends on mob size and which weapons and armor are loaded by each player. There are loot items that help you achieve max attack and defense for you mob size. Do NOT waste money on the attack and defense skills in your profile.

That number applies to a single player capping. It doesn’t apply to total caps against someone by multiple people.
Example Level 100 that I cap, using the formula you gave- means I am limited to capping 50 or less per every 24 hours. Once 50 are capped I cannot cap that same player again until 24 hours pass from the1st one capped, it is a rolling clock & not fixed.

Yes it's a 24/hr limit, per person capping. and yes it's a sliding window. if you cap 50 , 1 a minute starting at noon. hit limit at 12:50... limit will start lifting the next day at noon, and you will be able to cap as the limit lifts every minute. you will NOT be able to cap 2 in the first 30secs of the 1st.... or if you wait until 12:50 then you just cap all 50 turf as fast as possible. keeping track of your sliding cap window gets tricky sometimes. alot of people just wait until the time they hit limit. if you hit limit at 12:50, wait until 12:50 the next day and you can cap the full 50 turf without running into that wall.

also something to think about.
limit 10 vs limit 50.
limit 10: you drop 100 turf and the most a player can cap from you is 10
limit 50: you drop that same 100 turf and that player can take half your turf dropped.
now... you up your level and make your limit 100
they can take all 100 turf you drop. that that means more time and effort on their part. more plant cost for yourself....
with anniv weekend what it is today this is not really a concern for active players but its still true. the cost in refills use to be a issue.
some people believe staying small level is better. some believe larger level and cap limit is better. depends on the player.
