Would you watch/ watch more MLB games (mostly directed at TV viewing, but also applies to in person) if the league shortened the game from 9 innings to 7?
This would shave off somewhere between 25-45 mins from an average game, causing it to last roughly 3 hours originally to around 2 and a half hours. I'm just curious if this would have any impact on people who are casual fans or on the fringe of becoming a fan of the game.
What other things should the MLB explore to help get people interested in the game again?

Too many games. None of them matter. It’s why I only watch the playoffs in most sports except the NFL.

People selling popcorn and hotdogs should be topless women. Maybe strippers.

Stupid people like me have a short attention span so I really like the UFC. Just pure action and lots of damage 🤪👊

Maybe if your teams didn’t suck you’d watch it. 🗣Let’s go Dodgers let’s go!! 💙ᒪᗩ🤍
But in all honesty I enjoy watching baseball and I’m good with 9 innings.

^ I personally enjoy the game the way it is too. But baseball clearly is having issues retaining and attracting fans. I just don't know what solutions there are outside of making a big change like shortening the season and/or games.

I use to be a sports fan, watched games, collected trading cards…etc. i’m about to sound old , but nowadays theres more distractions for kids and adults alike. It’s not the same as it was 30-40 years ago. And from an investment standpoint they really need to analyze if spending hundreds of millions if not billions on a sports team is really worth it anymore. It all boils down to money.

I can hardly tell you the names of players in any sport these days. Not unless it’s someone that is really being talked about. I just lost interest and my life is busy.

I just booked tix to go see the Detroit Tigers. Haven’t been to a game in about 4-5 years. I was amazed at how expensive the tix are. Ya, I know you can get them for about $25 if you want to sit in the outfield or upper deck, but to have anything close to a decent seat you’re looking at $100 minimum per ticket. Then you have to factor in at least $20 to park and the ridiculous cost of anything you buy at the concession stands.
So I guess what I’m saying is, never mind the game length, how about fixing the high cost of going to a game. Long gone are the days of taking the family… who can afford it?

Average ticket prices have increased from $26.74 in 2010, to $34.04 in 2020. Which is an increase of about 27% over 10 years.Idk about you, but as a fan I don't feel like I'm getting something in return that justifies that crazy increase when I go to a game.

I would watch if it were shorter and if the pitchers stopped taking so long before throwing the ball, take time to prepare but do they really need so much time??
-
Im sure alot of that is not them but regulations for television or some other bs.

The rules for next season should help shave some time. I kind of liked the 7 innings for doubleheaders. And….I doubt anyone would like this, but just call it a tie after 12 innings. 18, 19, 20 inning games aren’t interesting.
