Just had a lvl 159 attack me a few times so I could get some money. Larger player won all attacks. Is don protection not active anymore?

Don protection stops at level 15. You leveled up too fast.

Make friends before making enemies
Mob up. Mob is just a number. You enter a player’s code in the invite tab, then if they log in and accept your invite, your mob size goes up by one. That’s it. They are not in your team, you are not in an alliance or anything else.
Create an account on mobcodes.turfwarsapp.com add the temp codes daily.
Level up slowly. New players receive special protection. Add mob, then levels.  Spread across the globe as much as possible.  When there is no space on an airport, just ask one of the big players who control the airport if they open a space for you.  You can see your closest airport in your profile / airport. Hop there by creating turf towards the direction you want to travel and tear down the turfs that you came from.
