So the child tax credit expansion expires today. I’m sure many were counting on it continuing.

I don’t understand it. The government paid people monthly a tax credit on money they had already paid in taxes. So this costs the government a lot of money for personnel and systems to process the monthly payment.

Again, it’s a refund on money already paid…

How about not taking the money in the first place so a refund isn’t needed to be processed….

But that would mean a loss of jobs….

I always thought it was strange when I was in the military…

“Here’s your money. We took some out, though. And don’t forget to settle up at the end of the year.”

Seems like it would be more efficient to simply pay their own employees, MILLIONS of them, a reduced wage and call the federal tax portion even.

But yeah. Job loss at the IRS.

I had thought that it would actually be a job loss in the lobbying area. Since the only reason the IRS is underfunded is because of people keeping tax reform legislation down that would allow the IRS to deal with people doing less than legal monetary stuff and for taxes to be included in pay.
