FB, Twit, Insta testimony and net neutrality

A bit less than 10 years ago- legislators brought forward a bill. The issue is can net providers decide what content is allowed on their infrastructure- in turn limiting what you have access to.
A) it’s theirs and they want content generators to pay them for the privilege of making it available
B) influential corporations and billionaires can align with political parties to decide what content is “worthy” of reaching the masses.
The age of social influence is here. It’s ugly side effects are raging world wide. I am interested in the testimonies occurring this week & if any real substantial ideas are brought forward. Censorship, ownership, misinformation, intentional cherry-picking of information and deliberate emotional manipulation occurring at unprecedented levels.

Could we just shut off the internet? That would be great.

We CAN avoid all social media platforms.

Lol or you click on a news story and it links you to Twitter. Or worse it puts Twitter responses in the “news” article.BigAl! wrote:

Providers have the right to control what they offer. People have a right not to use them. Dont use them. But if you want it soooo bad you are willing to give in to their terms and conditions then dont bitch about signing that contract. You signed it. If the entire user base would drop them and either use someone else or no one at all then companies would rethink things. But they dont have to. If you owned the company would you want your users to dictate how you run it and how to make money?

You have to talk about the addiction factor at this point. Social media is more addicting than alcohol or tobacco. Should we limit the use to over 18 only? Probably. How the hell do you enforce that though?
I know parents photoshopping their 13 year old to look like a pornstar and the kids using it all over social media. People are sick.

I never had a Twitter, Instagram, Snap, TicTok, etc. I have a Facebook acct but have not looked at my or anyone else's walls in over 6 years. I think sharing photos with family is great. Sharing opinions with family, not great. Sharing opinions with strangers is toxic.
The Turf Wars forums and chat is the only social media outlet for me.
