Yes, we can have adult conversations or jokes and involve these words or topics and it not be offensive. Its not directed or used as an attack to hurt someone.

That much is true. I think intent is half of the solution. It might not be the intention to hurt someone but it can still happen. That doesn’t automatically make you a bad person but understanding why the thing you did was bad, owning up to that, and learning from it definitely makes you a better person.

Maybe I’m dead wrong on this, but I think there is a middle ground. You choose to be offended by something. You choose your reaction in the moment between when something happens to you and right afterwards. However, there are words with a dehumanizing history and the intent is cruel towards a group. To be arrogant and dismissive as to think or say “You’re just acting or being dramatic” is quite disrespectful. Unless you are all knowing, you don’t know what is inside someone else’s head.
