Did Congress or the Senate ban him or was it the Twitter, Facebook and Google?
On a serious note. William Randolph Hearst bought politicians like most people buy gas. He controlled them by controlling media. He would print misleading stories as well as bold lies about any who opposed him. Eventually the control an power he had bit him in the ass. Congress passed laws making libel and slander more powerful and universal. Government has huge struggles with social media on this. S ocial media has fought back saying they aren’t the ones responsible and have no control for what individuals say on a public platform on a private account- yet at the very same time they are proclaiming self responsibility for control and eliminating what an individual may say on a public platform. The time has come to look at public platforms and big tech and and the need to update our laws on libel and slander to catch up to modern life -
Also of note- the stolen iPads and laptops aren’t the vaults of access to classified and vital records people may think. I agree national security was under attack and those who committed the attack should be treated as such- but the reality is Congressional member access to vital records is done thru the computer and not in the computer. The majority would be endless drafts and revisions of proposed legislation- speeches and fund raising. The most harmful would be emails that could be embarrassing or be misrepresented or show egregious attitudes of legislators. The data breaches and hacks that are occurring take far more sensitive information and those are being done from thousands of miles away. The attention to digital national security is needed and the need to ensure the citizens and the govt of the US aren’t subject to attacks and disclose of financial, medical, sociological and habitual information. Data is weaponized at the individual level as well as the levels of protected class.

Yea getting banned is hilarious!! Now we are just like China!! We remove speech we dont agree with now🙄Didnt he concede? Thought i herd something about that. After the capital hill thing. And all his social media getting banned 😂
On a more serious note .. what exactly in my comment led you to this conclusion ? Is it because i dont find humor in censorship ? Or striving to be more like communist China ? -
So after a discussion- me being from Cali where political affiliation is recognized as a protected class by Dept of Labor , Dept of Health, Department of Fair Housing- I assumed it was federally recognized as such as well. It is not. Most states have some elements in which political affiliation has some protection and others that have none. Perhaps that is something our legislators should prioritize?

Illinois. The use of threats or intimidation to prevent any person from supporting or opposing an individual's nomination or election for public office is unlawful. Additionally, an employer may not maintain records of an employee's off-duty political activities unless the employee submits hard-copy records to the employer and/or otherwise authorizes the employer's collection of such records. Illinois also forbids employment discrimination or retaliation for an employee's off-duty use of "lawful products," which could arguably include social media platforms such as Facebook.
Indiana. Threatening to damage a voter's business or trade to influence how he or she votes is unlawful. Additionally, employers may not include in compensation materials any statements to influence the political opinions or actions of employees or display in the workplace any notice that threatens to close the business or reduce work and/or compensation should a particular candidate get elected.

California. Employers may not prevent an employee from participating in the political arena in any capacity, direct the political activities or affiliations of an employee, or threaten to discharge an employee for engaging or refusing to engage in certain political activity.

Ah. I should probably clarify for the trumpers. Yes. It is extremely funny that he hot banned. Get pissed all you want but he has no legal backing. You have the right to free speech. You have the right to assembly. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CAUSE PUBLIC PANIC, ORR TO CAUSE RIOTS. And they gave him a chance. Take down the malicious shit and you good homie. Ez pz. But nah. And on top of that social media is NOT free speech. You want free speech? Go stand on a curb and preach.

Owning a phone is a privilege. Having a social media account is a privilege. Driving a car is a privilege. Freedom to say what the fuck you want to who you want in front of their face, as long as it does not insight public panic IS a right. If you dont like it, create your own platform and make trump unbanable there. Thats your right to do so.
-
The second someone goes to jail for shit they say in real life, then, I for one will be up in arms. Because that IS against our rights. Sorry had to clarify. People tend to forget what rights actually are. I can link yall the constitution if yall want. 😇
-
Lets put this in a way turfers will understand. I have the RIGHT to say as much racist, sexist, and any other fucked up shit i want. But. If i type it here, ill get banned. Because playing this game isnt a right. Its a privilege. Same with alll other forms of non verbal communication. They have a terms of service that everyone agrees to. Dont agree to the terms, and they can take action in any way they please. And thats what happened to trump. Hate speech, malicious words and all of the other 500,000 pages of the ToS lets them do so.

Politics, religion or even personal life and work shouldn’t mix. You work is a place of business, not a platform to boost your agenda or views. If anyone wants your view or opinion on those, they can ask. No need for general broadcasting.

Next thing you have people taking a knee at work 🙄 lol.

Lmfao. Trump wanted peace, where was all this energy from the democrats when cities were being pillaged and burned? When people were being killed "for the cause". Get the fuck out of here. Disagree with me, I don't give a shit. But "America" is about to face the consequences of their actions.

Privilege is correct and violated TOS should be enforced. BUT enforcement would and should be the same for the offense, no matter the person.
eg: if caught spoofing the punishment should be the same and zero consideration should go into how many DP’s you have bought or the family you are in😉 -
Jack Dorsey finally gave in to the mob

A November 2020 New York Times article reported some instances where Facebook tinkered with ways to reduce misinformation and generally awful content. One, in an effort to tamp down conspiracy lunacy right after the election, assigned what it called N.E.Q. (news ecosystem quality) scores to articles, with reliable journalism ranked higher than lies and fantasy. It made for a “nicer News Feed.” But after a few weeks the company stopped the ranking scheme. In another experiment, Facebook trained a machine-learning algorithm to identify posts that were “bad for the world” and demoted those in people’s feed. Indeed, there were fewer toxic posts. But people logged in to Facebook less—and less time is Mark Zuckerberg’s nightmare. The Times viewed an internal document where Facebook concluded,“The results were good except that it led to a decrease in sessions, which motivated us to try a different approach.”

It is interesting that you insist this was perpetrated by antifa. Actually, over the past few days almost every right wing outlet is saying this was an antifa led scheme. Two problems with that:
1) msgs on parler and theDonald, you saw multiple calls prior to the 6th claiming this is EXACTLY what they plan to do. If it was one post, you could argue it’s a left wing plant, but a majority of threads were calling for an all out revolt to storm the citadel, stop the count and hold them accountable.
2) immediately after, while some try to blame leftwing agitators for it, there was a very loud and vocal disagreement on theDonald over this. Giving this to antifa diminished their victory. “WE did this, WE put the fear of god in them, this is OUR win.”
Now they want to pretend they’re innocent cuckolds

The issue is why they were as a group of like minded people vs others who are not associated to their beliefs who have also made inflammatory statements, encouraged illegal actions and dangerous false statements against those they oppose. It is because their customer base and their their revenue stream would take a major hit. It is ironic to me, the Proud Boys are being treated as lessors, aren’t given access and an even opportunity/playing field and it is offensive as hell to them- that was the same thing others groups have been so pissed about for so long but we’re dismissed as nonsense .

There’s a small group of people out there, very small, who don’t believe in censorship.
Yes freedom of speech only applies to federal government. But in many ways social media has become more powerful than federal government.
Look at the way social media and media in general has doxed every single person they can that was at the protest. Not just the people inside the capital (idiots) but anyone who was there. People are being fired from their jobs for attending a legal protest.
But here’s the thing. You have simpletons like step off and some other trolls above because the person who they don’t like got banned. There’s also republicans who do the same thing. “Yaaay we silenced xyz”.
Now back to our small group. We don’t want to see Clinton, Obama, Bush, Trump or Satan silenced because we understand that even though it’s “funny” someone we don’t like got banned. It more than likely actually means someone we do like, or we ourselves, will be banned in the future.

Even Parler has begun removing posts that they considered stepping over an arbitrary line. Lin wood’s call for Pence to be shot was apparently too much for the “libertarian” outlet. Folks that want to send out dog whistles to their fan base can continue to do so, but a private company has the right to determine what goes on their platform. I guess for some to understand this concept of choice, just pretend Twitter is a Christian bakery and Trump’s a gay wedding.

Not disagreeing at all... I just want to posit a question. Why is it that only the left can detect the use of “dog whistles”? Do they realize it’s self deprecating when their ears pop up every time a conservative uses “dog whistles”? I think people need to come up with a new term. How about “speaking in code”? Then, when they detect it, they are so smarts, and not dumb animals.Even Parler has begun removing posts that they considered stepping over an arbitrary line. Trump and Giuliani arrive at the gates of heaven. God greets them and nods them through. Trump says, "God, can I ask you a question? Was my election rigged?" God says, "No, my child, it wasn't." As the two men are walking away, Trump nudges Giuliani with his elbow and says, "I knew it Rudy. The conspiracy went right to the top."
