Late 70’s Van Halen made the LA music scene alive again with assistance from Randy Rhoades who was in Quiet Riot at the time. The music of the day was dead. All Elton John and the Eagles and rehashed radio friendly tunes. Van Halen came alive in the LA clubs and kicked the music scene on their asses. They inspired, for better or worse, the bands of the 80’s and a new “sound” that was often imitated but never duplicated. 👍🥃 RIP

If you aren’t familiar- listen to what isn’t often played commercially to get a sense of the skill. Spanish Fly, Little Guitars, Cathedral, New World, and of course the one that lit the world on fire- Eruption

Wow that’s some sad news. I was just reading a story about him changing the solo in his collaberation with Michael Jackson. Lost another ledgendary artist. R.I.P.
