CB Radio issue
Forums › General Discussion › CB Radio issue-
So I have a CB radio in my truck, I use it to keep in touch with my employees who work in my feedlot and my 3 drivers I have for my trucking company. Anywho, I've had this issue for a while now, when I key my mic to respond to someone and I'm say, on youtube listening to music and I key my mic, my phone kicks me off of the app or my screen changes to where I can clear open apps. It also does this when it's on the home screen. But it doesnt do it if I'm streaming spotify to my truck radio or on facebook. Anyone have this same issue or might know what's going on?

Maybe check the grounding of your radio? Try a different USB cable for your phone?

I bluetooth everything into my radio, but my cb interferes with my phone. I've done numerous things to try to prevent it but it continues to do itMaybe check the grounding of your radio? Try a different USB cable for your phone?

Cb and phone operate at much different frequencies and don’t interfere with eachother. I have zero knowledge of BT frequencies used. Is the CB also Bluetooth enabled? If so, try turning it off on the cb side.

A CB from 1986 probably doesn’t give a shit about Bluetooth. It’s just barking out RF like it owns the place. Imagine what it would do to a frozen burrito.∞🪓Persephone🌲∞ wrote:

Although they are massively far apart on the electromagnetic spectrum, You could be throwing out some nasty harmonics that might throw a Bluetooth connection out. Check your antenna setup. How does the SWR (standing wave ratio) look? A poorly tuned antenna can be a nightmare.
Also, if your mic level (or preamp) is too hot, you could be overmodulating, again causing nasty harmonics through distortion.
Also check that you’re not pulling too much current. It can pull the voltage down which can also distort the radio signal. Turn your output power down where/when/if possible to prevent this.
There are subtle differences as to how these things will take effect depending on transmission mode (AM, FM, SSB) but they all still apply in some form or another.
I’m old.

But if my phone is on the dash or in the other seat it is fine

You have a heater? Mine does strange things when I am amped up

Yeah, it could well be burner related. Those things tend to throw stray RF all over the place.
