I was reading an article on how a court in Singapore sentenced a heroin dealer to death using Zoom to deliver the verdict.

And it got me thinking. The death penalty; is it inhumane or just cause?

Heres where my mind argues. Part of me says kill the bastards if its certain crimes. I used to think i would rather them suffer in jail for 60 years but its a fucking holiday park in prison now which we fund.

I’m still of the thought that life in prison (especially those in solitary confinement) is a worse punishment.....plus, in theory, the government shouldn’t “lower themselves” and do the same thing that a murderer does.

Irregardless of the morality behind the death penalty I think we can objectively say that there are far better ways to execute criminals than injecting them with poorly regulated chemical cocktails.

A partial suspension hanging is pain free, far quicker, ridiculously cheap, and far more humane.

Death penalty for drugs? Give me a fucking break. It’s a slippery slope though for murderers. Soooo many wrongly imprisoned people that are being let out after 20+ years with the advancement of dna evidence. Eventually you’re gonna kill an innocent man/woman. But life in prison costs the taxpayers so I think it should be up to the judge. Some people just deserve it.

I’m still interested in a follow up to this. Do people actually think that prison is inhuman or unfair? If prison isn’t fair, and just putting them to death isn’t fair, then what? Laws exist for a reason.

Weird thing is we reject punishment by inflicting pain because it is cruel, yet punish by putting someone away for years, destroy his social circle, make sure he never gets a decent job any more.

We want them to stay out of crime, yet deny them a legal way of making money and make sure his only friends left are criminals.....
