Corona thoughts #2

Alright. So it looks like the 12% compound rate I plugged into a simple spreadsheet is going to be obsolete hopefully today or tomorrow. Thank goodness, as a Canadian, it looks like in most places the 'curve has been flattened' and that hospitals aren't completely overwhelmed and can deal with the incoming cases.
This isn't true everywhere, there will be a significant bubble of cases where people just didn't believe about the malignancy of this virus.
Most people get the idea of isolating at home and reducing the spread, the reduction of new cases is encouraging.
So what's next? Many people can't stay at home for another four weeks, they have bills/rent to pay. People need to get outside and get some fresh air.
I don't know the answer. This virus has been 'flattened' but as a group of people get together in a park, business meeting, concert, the infection curve will climb again.
The virus doesn't care about our need for social or business interaction. Or for the economy.

I know to ask people to use common sense is a bit presumptuous but I know we’re gonna get through this together. This is like any other flu season, albeit deadlier results. I’m just glad our elected officials are taking it seriously and as long as they have maximum cooperation, this will all be just a bad memory in a few weeks. Stay healthy everyone!
