I made the decision to move to Maine and give a fresh start to my life. So who's all around and what's good to do around here? In Wells now. Looking for an apartment for my wife and dogs

Wells is a nice area, moody beach is beautiful. Not a hell of a lot to do until the weather breaks again in spring. You’ve probably missed prime leaf peeping season but the hiking in the area is night. Oqunquitt is a mega tourist town/beach that attracts a ton of Canadians. I’d avoid it like the plague if I were you.

Always wanted to visit the opposite corner of the country. Maybe I’ll drop by this summer.

Yall know theres warmer places to live right? Why would you voluntarily live in a place that gets that cold? Ive never understood that. When i was working in denver i saw homeless people laying in the snow on the sidewalks downtown. Wtf! Start walking your homeless ass south why stay there? Cant you be homeless anywhere?

Ive turned down jobs in chicago and new york. Even some as close as little rock. Dallas sometimes gets too cold for me. I prefer places closer to the southern coast but my wife wont let us go down there. So this is a compromise for me.

I remember when I lived there, the city was up in arms when they found out some towns in Minnesota were buying homeless folk one way tickets to Denver. 8 years later Denver started doing the same.

Made the move here because the wife wanted to find somewhere colder for her and her husky. I wanted warmer, but lost that battle. So my big dog and I will lay on the couch snuggled up and her and her husky can sit out in the cold and snow.

I wouldn’t move to the city though. From what I hear, it’s expensive as hell in the city and there’s even parking rent of like $1,000 depending on where you live. -

I wouldn’t move to the city though. From what I hear, it’s expensive as hell in the city and there’s even parking rent of like $1,000 depending on where you live.It snows in NYC, but not very often, and the snow is always gone within 3 days. NYC is a lot warmer than upstate or Maine.

I thought it was cold today in the 50's. They all laughed and asked what I'm gonna do when it's -15. Told them I'm tossing the wife and husky right out the door so they can "enjoy" it.

I worked in anchorage for a year on and off and dont think it got that cold. Maybe -10...

It seems all the complaints I'm seeing here about the weather in other states can apply to Kansas. People here joke about how you can experience all 4 seasons in 1 day. I've seen it get as low as -20° and as high as 120°.
