Just curious how it feels to be a millionaire in real life. Any of you guys hit that goal yet?

Well, this is awkward.
Anyway, as I was saying, I’ve recently begun trading FOREX and I’m actually doing rather well. If I keep going at this rate, I expect to be a millionaire in less than 3 years. Not joking. So all you rich bastards, what does it feel like to have that kind of cash in your bank?

A million is not enough. Homeostasis always kicks in and it feels exactly like it did when you flipped burgers.

A million is only a lot of money to people who don’t have it. Next thing you know you feel insecure and can’t wait until you get to $10 million because then you’ll be satisfied. But you’re not. Both fair points. I’m not poor by any stretch of the imagination but I certainly was a few years ago ... and yes, I get it. I look at my financial position now and while it would’ve been my goal a few years ago it feels pretty insubstantial now. So I get it.Brown🎵Note wrote:

Ok. On to my first million then. 🤣

If you enjoy trying to get a high score, go for it. But if you are trying to achieve a non-financial goal by making money, I think the game actually hurts happiness.
Like... Why didn’t Bill Gates retire after his first billion? It’s because the game IS his life. He couldn’t find anything more in life than work. Fine...
But I think MOST people don’t care about the high score. They want happiness, freedom, and security, and believe money is the answer to get those things. To a point, it is. But there is a danger of throwing your one life away chasing more and more, and never actually finding life.

You can’t buy happiness, health and love, but you can buy everything else.

What’s a million in $AU? Like $52 USD?

JK 😝 ... I really am hearing you.
Personally. I have many goals. Most of them require some substantial funding and so that’s the short term (up to several years) goal. -

Turfs, I wish you the best. Set goals. That's healthy. At the same time, when you finally have surfed out to the edge of life's internet we'll have a new conversation to have. One book that blew my mind a few years ago was one a friend gave me called The Answer by Randy Pope. It qouted Aristotle Onasis (wealthy beyond wealthy) as saying that he looked back at his life, he felt like all he lived in was this golden tunnel. More money didn't fix this insatiable desire.
CS Lewis is qouted as saying if you've tried searching for something to quench this insatiable thing inside you, and you keep coming up short, then maybe you weren't made for this world.
What does it benefit a man to gain the whole world only to lose his soul?
Think about it ...

There was a study I read about the sweet spot of wealth and happiness. It quantified happiness and had actual figures on income/net worth that would achieve maximum happiness. It showed also how it actually had a reciprocal effect once you broke the happiness/wealth threshold. I may google that for kicks later.

My wife and I have done well for ourselves. We paid off all vehicles, houses, rental properties, and any form of college debt that was left in our late twenties. We scaled back recently. I Personally feel once you get to the point where your not stressing your essential needs in life I would say that seems to be the big hurdle. If your biggest worries are which size jacuzzi, pool or boat you need then you have probably surpassed that threshold. You chasing your tail at that point. Just my opinion.

I can't imagine living paycheck to paycheck again. That takes years off your life worrying about mortgage payments, car repairs, kids college etc...🤮 Focus on paying off all your debt( ie mortgages) and shit like that. Enjoy life👍🏼

If your buying don's points for turf wars than you likely surpassed happiness/wealth threshold or your parents have😂 or the 3rd option is that your an idiot and spending your grocery money to get henchmen. Your probably not going to achieve Vikings concept of homeostasis (your just up shit creek)

I was gonna be one but than I got high

Respect. 👊 If you don't mind me asking....when was it that you were ready, able, to jump into buying rentals? Was it single family? Multi? When I can I listen to bigger pockets. I hit being a millionaire about 3 years ago. I have 15 houses that I rent in AZ, I have my Brokerage License for real estate and I invest in local businesses around Phoenix! I literally had to eat ramen my first 5 months of being a realtor. I had to save every penny. And getting the first sale was not easy by no means. I got more no’s then yes’s.

Money brings security not happiness.
Happiest days of my life was when I was on my arse but surrounded by good people.
You could have all the money in the world but you need a reason to get out of bed in the mornings if you didn't have to get up or had no reason why you had to get up you would become bored in your own little sad life be it with or without money.
Work keeps us sane and away from depression by interacting with other people on a day to day basis. If your a millionaire your not rich if your happy and surrounded by people you love and they love you then your rich in life.
