So the local guy I’ve gone to for car stuff, I honestly though he knew what he was talking about, lately has been getting so many things wrong when diagnosing or getting parts for my car.
Example: I just changed my wheel bearing yesterday because he wanted $600 and was trying to put a 4 stud/whatever it’s called in my car when mine has 5. Also mine has ABS where the one he had gotten did not. Claimed it’ll work and if I made him get the “part I want” I’ll be double
So I just put down $130 and fixed it myselfANYWAYS, for a while now my car sometimes will stall. I thought it was because of the wheel bearing but now that that’s fixed idk what it is. It’s a Chevrolet Cobalt LT 2010 no turbo.
It usually happens if I happen to break too suddenly (I don’t slam on my breaks at all, I use the tapping/pumping method) but if I’m getting off the freeway and the freeway exit has a light. Even if I gradually come to a slow stop it will sometimes just turn off the engine OR......
-
I’ll feel the car kinda shake/lurch forward if it doesn’t stall out that is.
-
I just want to know if it’s possibly a transmission thing, or a battery thing, maybe intake? Or injector (is that what it’s called)
Sssooooo yeah idk how many of you are car lovers or mechanics (I’m far from that lol) but I would like to pick your brains on the possibility of what it could be to isolate it a lot better.
OH when it does it’s shaking/lurching forward motion. The RPM needle does goes up at the same time. Idk if that helps or not but yeah.

battery is purely for starting your motor, wheel bearing would make a noise
so you ask tw gd for advice? good one
If you know fcuk all about cars go buy Japanese or South Korean model, wont get any trouble -
hearsay, always bought German Engineering

Definitely not a wheel bearing. Odd that it stalls out while braking. Stalls TW d to be either a fuel or electrical issue. Check rpm’s. From taking off the gas & just coasting for a bit. If it drops fast, you may have a brake issue where they are actually engaged when not on them.

One of the most common symptoms of faulty fuel injectors is an extremely violent or rough engine idle. If fuel is not properly provided to the engine cylinder, it will result in a choppy engine, when the car is in idle

I wasn’t saying it was the wheel bearing. I had to replace it because mine went bad. And I just said battery because mine is a few years old alreadybattery is purely for starting your motor, wheel bearing would make a noise

I would check your piston return springs. Possibly need new ones

Sounds like a vacuum line on your master brake cylinder

Check battery/alternator for proper amperage. I assume the car starts back up immediately after stalling? My car did all sorts of weird idling/dying things. Turns out it was a bad alternator and then a bad connection from alternator to battery. Maybe spark plugs as well? How many miles?

Start with the basics. Increase your idle speed up a bit. See if it helps. You may be getting too little fuel and it’s stalling. Easy try
-
I have also had this with a dirty fuel filter. Some are easy to replace and cheap others are expensive and tough to change.
-
Is there gas in it? Did you hit the start button? Try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Ok that’s the end of my car knowledge.

Throttle position sensor, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor. Sounds like some sensor shit.

Where’s VWTech?

Stop buying at pep boys lol first step to.car recovery

Or the whole pump. Good call 🐢

Try removing and cleaning your throttle body , while you are at it check and make sure your airbox and air filter are clean.

Since everyone is shooting in the dark I’ll throw this out there. Pick up a fuel pressure gage and check the specs on your car. While some cars will require higher than most just make sure you have enough fuel pressure. Start with the filter and check again after replacing. If nothing changes then most likely fuel pump. Could also be a bad ground wire somewhere that is common issue as well. Keep

These are all good... and a broad range lol I was kinda hoping people would just be saying one thing but that’s never the case with scars I guess.
I did ask a friend of mine who was a machanic for like 15 years to take a ride with me so see what and how it all happens.
He did see these and did mention that some of these might be it but suggested to start small by getting at least two fuel injector cleaners and doubling up on it to see if it helps. If that doesn’t help then check the filters. I think I might change the intake filters anyways because I haven’t done that in like 3 maybe 4 years and I drive about 80-100 miles a day just for work.
-
But yeah. Did what he suggested and looked up a lot of what you guys were saying, tried checking to see if my rpms would decrease heavily while idling and everything else to isolate the issues.
But so far just with two of these fuel injectors that he told me to buy specifically (forgot the name of the brand, something foam)
It stopped stalling so far but the car still feels sketchy to drive. I feel like it still wants to stall out, either that or I’m just paranoid as fuck lmaoI’ll update in like 2 days if it still doesn’t do it. But I’m definitely going to do a tune up and check the piston rings and springs, filters, battery, and spark plugs like you guys suggested and if I can find it then I’ll go after the throttle body 😅
But thank you everyone.

Seriously though, you have no service lights coming on then the symptom occurs?
