  All individuals (being of capable and sound mind) make decisions of and for themselves. That being said, the ideas and ideals instilled in individuals more often times than not originate in part or in whole from the direct or passive discussions of others. So while the actions themselves may be those of an individual the progression to such actions is at the very least a shared responsibility.

  ...No different than a great leader/educator/coach instilling positive actions from their followers. The teacher didn’t get the A, the coach didn’t get the TD. They did help provide the framework these positive actions. Unfortunately the same rings true when it comes to the transfer of negative ideals. Words lead to actions...good or bad!

  Small piece of the equation. Thoughts, ideals, values, mental state, actions, means to ends, ease of access to materials (good or bad) are all contributing factors to the outcome of any situation. If you eliminate any of these pieces of the puzzle, it makes the desired outcome (of said individual) more difficult to obtain. No single piece of the equation can be solely to blame but it’s difficult to deny that the absence of some have an overall greater affect on the outcome.
