Noob question

I've been thinking about turf/money/influence, and I've been confused. I've been trying to figure it out and I'm hoping somebody can clue me in to what I am missing.
I took one of my turfs and starting playing with numbers.
If all of my turfs were of equal value, than this is what I came up with. (I know your actual dollars may vary, but the percentages should all be the same)We have to pick some presets to begin with. I used 20 turfs for my comparison.
If I build to an 84 influence:
It would cost me 3.5M to build each turf to 84, for a total of 70.16M and my hourly return is $660k and a total influence of 1680.If I build to a 64 influence:
For the same money, I can build 35 turfs to a 64 influence. I would net 945k/hour and have a total influence of 2240.So the question that I have...And I know it must be my ignorance because I'm a noob. Why does per turf influence actually matter? At a 64, am I more susceptible to capture? Can I capture an 84 if I'm a 64 (Given the same mob)?

You're answer may be:
Well, why stop there, you can have 11,600 turfs with only Grafitti and a 5 influence for the total spend. That would return $19.5M/hour and give a total influence of over 58k.There's just a point where it's not practical. And there probably isn't enough territory in higher paying areas to do it. (Ya, I thought about it).

At 64 you pay protection if someone has a turf covering you. 84 they have to have a union boss to collect protection. There are other things like capturing turfs and build radius that are increased at 84.
-
You must also consider the fact that for each level you're awarded (X) amount of turfs.
-
Unless you plan increasing your turf limit through don points, you should upgrade each turf to 84-inf for max income when starting out.

Look in the Help forum. There is plenty of info in there that may help you.
