France seems to be masters of surrender. They lost to the British many times, invaded Russia in the winter, were defeated by Germany before they even unified, were conquered in WWII by the Nazis, and lost control of Vietnam. Why can’t they seem to even win a conflict?

And based on your logic anyone who has lost a war is basically a "master" of surrender. All of these examples are similar to other nations' histories.
