Who am I -- but here are my three suggestions to Make Turf Wars Great Again.
Games are fun when they are logical, when they are fair and when they are lively. While not an real old timer or major player, I have had a ton of fun in the game back in the day. While maybe TW isn't dead as some say it is, it certainly seems to be in major decline. Based on temp and non temp codes acceptance, it seems most new players leave after a short time.
Anyway, the three changes I'd make if I owned TW and was receiving income from it are:
1) Make TW Competitive - let anyone start new, work hard and rapidly become a major player. Do this by by changing the ideas of mob and vendettas. First, let any number of any size players create a V. Make V's immediately active on both attack and defense. Let them persist indefinitely. That way people naturally team together to achieve goals. When the V or Alliance isn't working for them, they drop out and go solo or join another V.
-
Duh. That what I meant - I’ll fix
-
2) Make power tied to game activity - Dump the idea of everyone is in your mob and going to external code sites and copy and pasting. Move to something like building turf. The more turf you plant, the more your control, the larger your attack. Then, all the hour hours spent punching codes can be spent planting, hopping, capping and other things that affect game play.
To recognize all the hard work from the big code punchers, you could do a one time swap. Mob size becomes influence. Then small inf players could V up and start chipping away. Major players could all V up as well but I expect egos and competitiveness would lead to factions and much more dynamic play. Loot and weaps need more thought but not a lot of change - your 1k turf can support 1k brens. Lose 500 turf, 500 bren go inactive but still cost upkeep.
-
3) Move back to a more GPS based game. Limit airports by making tickets scarce. 1-4 per year? Maybe even throttle hopping by limiting number of hops per day. Hopping might be hard enough as-is but it might be nice if it was 'easier' to get in your car, on a bus or walk than hop. Most of all, increase the incentive for human interaction and real-world activity. Meet ups and stealth skirmishes build player stickiness.
I am sure a lot of this is over simplified and is way too much change - but it was fun to to think about and looking forward to anyones thoughts.
PS - Nick.... wanna sell this game?

This is the only forum I read. I also forgot how to post long threads. Lol. But I have run several software gigs and would enjoy doing a turn around on a game. Plus I can use some residual, reoccurring income and people buying don points and Olive Garden ads sounds interesting. Lolwrong forum noob 😜

wrong forum.. But, since its here, I've also been thinking about how this game can balance. I see alot of new players griping about never being able to catch up, at a disadvantage, etc, and I said/ still say the same thing myself. i was thinking that if they made it so mob invites were changed to automatically being accepted and applied that to any account still on server/ in game inactive or not it would reactivate all of the ancient codes. this would allow anyone to be able to catch up to a certain degree by putting in work punching.
-
Huh, sounds like another game I know of... where the more bases you have, the stronger the account. And Vs last forever in that game too.

Wait, Nick, can I get a refund?

Lol, nick does not look at this game anymore. He made his money and walked away.

Great ideas here, but I have thought about the automatic acceptance for mob invites. Would make things so much easier now that there are probably 50k+ inactive codes. My mob would probably jump a few thousand just from invites that have been sent already and are sitting there!

No no. misread or I worded it wrong. I'm not saying drop any players mob down I'm just suggesting that invited should be automatically accepted if I were to type a code of an inactive or active player. so if I want to spend hours punching old codes it will actually get you somewhere , allowing any body to catch up with bigger mobs. the separation of power will be those with Brens and henchmen. if anything Nicks profits would soar come bren events , more mob= more bren . it would be an idea change to the way invites work

I misread then, I always said that the best way was to make it where when you add someone, they are automatically added to your mob, but they have to either accept or add your code to add you to there mob.★DUSTIИ★ wrote:

it could bring the game back to life strong. I know I would start punching like crazy if that happened , I imagine others would and even the big guys would probably repunch.
-
Good idea but nick ain’t gonna spend the time to re write the code for that to happen

wouldn't be hard to do. the players still exist on database and their codes attached . would be one of the easiest balance updates to do

and a massive game changer

And what about rangers? They would constantly have to delete mob to keep their cap range advantage.

not really. if they don't punch ,their gains would be minimal . everyones mob will exponentially rise. I'm sure the auto accepts would balance out accordingly for the ones not wanting big mob

My prediction for the decline and resulting end:
1) minor bugs will increase and not be addressed
2) updates required for 3rd party APIss will be late or missing causing seemingly random errors. Geocoder, ads, etc
3) Os updates will be late causing problems some but not others depending on device and os version
4) Finally updates will stop in 2019 as major os compatibility issues prevent App Stores from accepting new versionsBut I’m a gloomy guy on these issues so maybe it will alll continue to just work.

No !
I don’t see it like that at all.
The way I see it is,”I won and everyone else just gave up”!
I guess there’s always going to be two sides to every story 😎. -

It’s simple if someone puts the effort and punches 100000 codes then they should get that mob. There are too many self righteous idiots who interfere with new players and dictate how the game is played.
New players have no way of catching up and becoming a worthy adversary.
Just because you were fortunate to have played the game longer should not be a factor in the game. -

I guess there’s always going to be two sides to every story 😎.I’m looking at it as a business view. TW generated a lot of income at one point. That peaked and then declined to present state. It’s no longer generating the income to make supporting it interesting. So the game will die.
That death is due to design flaws in my view. Successful games should lead to more, not less, activity and income so future versions exist

There should be a new way to add codes. When you click on someones profile you should be able to just press an "invite to mob" button.
