Instead of bashing and potentially chasing away new players, why not try pointing them in the right direction, instead of acting like asses.
Noobs:
Check the help forum. Take the time to go through a few pages, as there are a lot of repetitive questions clogging it up. Read through the Sticky threads, look for the "Loot" titled threads and other HOW TO threads you come across.
And have a look through the info found in the Get Help tab on the home screen.
Anything you don't understand, just ask. But please, post questions in the Help & Strategy forum.

But it's still rather degrading. Noob seems more of an insult compared to newbie or newb.

Its a never ending problem. Noobs will be noobs.

Sorry, but as a new player, you have to expect a little hazing. Enter: the Noob tag.
All I'm saying, is don't bash them for asking a question, or asking in the wrong place. Point them in the right direction.

Hmm, I never seen it that way. Just a different spelling. To me, newbie sounds like what you would use on a 12 & under game. I don't take issue when I'm called noob in new places. But it's still rather degrading. Noob seems more of an insult compared to newbie or newb.

As a new player, you should be respecting EVERYONE until you have learned who is who, and have earned some respect of your own.

Good point, and I agree with you about the hazing, almost as if the game is a fraternity. And I guess it's the way it's said, as some people use it as an insult but others use it in the new player sense.Amιttaι wrote:

Ok you could look at it that way. But for me, davey in the beginning told me to go play tap tap or solitare after I went all n00b on him. I ended up taking that insult as encouragement to move forward and prove myself

Respect goes both ways though, I always reply to any questions anyone asks me, regardless of mob. I know personally I've sent PM's to veteran players and been ignored, totally. Right then, they lose any in game respect I may have had for them.
Having played MMO games since EQ in 99 I think regardless of how long a persons played their true nature always comes out, a jerk will awlays be a jerk.
-
I don't bash them, I send them to the ER and let them know why.
-
I always call myself a noob when starting a new game. It shows that I am starting a new great game and hopefully I'll stick to it. As long as vets don't have an attitude, there won't be any problems.
-
I always try to help new players, and help them on their way, sometimes they get their info and then disappear to take on TW alone, and sometimes they stick around, its always good to help cos you never know when they gonna mob up and overtake you and you might one day need their help, espically in this game the tables turn on people sooo quickly, its best to be friendly than hostile.

really, you're kidding. If this is really an issue then they shouldn't be gaming in anything more than a single player game. Newbs, noobs, newbies, greenhorns, rookies, wet behind the ears, cannon fodder, digital sacrifices, etc. are part of any game. The term is only derogatory in the sense that these are players that are unfamiliar with the ropes and will probably make some really boneheaded moves like forum trolling and attacking anything and everything regardless of inf, mob, weapons, level, respect and then cry like babies if they get smacked back. If they don't like any of those terms I have quite a few others that they would like even less if we really want to get picky.Vets: don't call new players noobs: they don't like it.

Lets have 'noob city' somewhere in cali. Where only noobs can live. No one over 3k mob allowed, and once u do, u have to leave. U are forever protected in the noob city area.

What if one of the newbies have 2,999 mob, and go on a capping frenzy?
-
The game already has ample protections for noobs. These are enough for the most part IMO
