Never before seen spider behavior!
Forums › General Discussion › Never before seen spider behavior!-
So about a few months ago I noticed a spider in the corner of my bathroom above the shower, cool whatever, I like daddy long legs. I would feed it whenever a fly got into my place (hate flies) and it’ll enjoy it’s meal. Then about a week later I noticed another one on the other side. Smaller than the first but ok whatever I thought, rather have spiders than flies or roaches and definitely more than ants. But the next morning I noticed they were both in the same web. I figured they would start fighting but they still haven’t fought. Oddly enough a third spider showed but but they killed it.... I can’t tell if one is male and one is female but it’s been almost 6 months and still no eggs so that’s probably not the case. Anyways TODAY as I came back from fishing I noticed one was wrapping the other. But not aggressively or anything.... in fact the smaller one was wrapping the bigger one BUT by the end of its legs. Took a closer look, the bigger spider is molting and the smaller one is helping it get out.... WTF?!

I’ve searched for evidence of this happening before but couldn’t find anything. Apparently the only social species of spiders that exists are in the tropics and they will build webs to house way more than just two spiders. These spiders actually share meals and just hang out together cleaning the web and rebuilding it together.

Another crazy thing that’s happened in my bathroom is I’ve had two flies in captivity and one turned into a cannibal after a few minutes. Fucking crazy little shit started tearing the other one up. At first I thought it was helping the other fly until I realized that it was trying to eat it.

Yo who in their right mind lets spiders live in their house. And for 6 months at that...

BEcause my girl’s sister is nasty and let’s flies in the house not a care in the world and leaves full bowls and plates of food hidden in the living room (she sleeps in the living room) under a chair or table til it’s rotten and moldy and I have to go look for it. So I rather have spiders who catch the fuckers than have flies bothering me or maggots everywhere.Yo who in their right mind lets spiders live in their house. And for 6 months at that...

Mexican social spiders are pretty friendly, so... maybe they were those.

Smaller one is most likely male. The 3rd that showed up was killed off as it's competition. But what do I know? I only collect and breed tarantulas as a hobby.....

Way to much time on your hands...

If spider eggs hatched in my house..😵💀☠️🏃🏻💨🏠. Better be careful. Don’t want those things crawling in your mouth when you sleep...

One of my friends got bit when he was showering. He said he looked down and saw a spider humping his hip and was confused in what it was doing and after staring at it for like 10 seconds he killed it. But a few days later his bump got so big you can see it through his shorts and it started hurting a lot so when they took him to the doctors. The doctor cut it open and the black string of poison came out followed by a huge egg sack that was clear enough to see all the baby spiders in them. -

For real. Now he’s terrified of even the smallest spider, which makes it hilariously fucked up to mess with him making him think there’s spiders on him 😂😂😂Blue_Jay wrote:
