So , tonight I am playing detective. My house broken into on Tuesday, they also broke into the upstairs apartment. They stole 2 flat screen tv's $400 US, and my laptop, they also stole four laptops and a tv from my upstairs neighbors .

Here is the interesting part, I have logmein remote control software on my MacBook , and the assholes have it online, so basically it's Friday night, and I'm hoping they leave it online and go to bed. Once they do, I'm gonna log in and install antitheft software that will let me take screen shots and pics of the assholes with the webcam. Just thought I'd share my adventure

I also have the ip so if I fail I can al least why the address from the ISP

If you can get the ip, you should be able to send the cops. I got my laptop back that way. Lojack for laptops-worth every penny.

Haha, there is no beating them up, look at where my first few turfs are planted, I live in a crime ridden 3rd world island. The thiefs aren't punks they are hardened criminals who probably wouldn't hesitate to kill me. The police also half useless . I have however emailed the network manager of the ISP to ask for his help, and if course I will push the police to do something

Minutes ago to install something like lockjack, but they caught on and immediately disconnected it.
At least they are
Probably freaking out a little right now knowing I can control the laptop if the go online

Lol, I'm in NY on business. Doubt they can get me here. They are also idiots they had the spare keys and registration # for my brand new van,'they could have easily figured out where i work and drove off with my van, but they dropped the keys by the door on the way out

I love a good mystery/whodunnit case. I somewhat fancy myself a modern day Nancy Drew. Let us know how it goes and btw, who has 4 laptops in their apt??

It was a family living upstairs, so i guess the kids and parents each had thier own laptop.
The ISP network manager just responded to my email, and explained the process to get the IPs subscriber adress through the police, told me who to talk to , cause the police normally don't know what to do, and he said he will store the info based on the IPs and time stamps I gave him, so when the police call him, he will have it ready for them

Good luck finding your stuff hopefully in one piece! My cousin just got robed for a safe and electronics.. Times are hard and people don't care no more! No respect for anyones hard earnd money or property

Update: just got an email, my landlord passed on the info that i had gotten from the ISP network manager to the police, and they have been in contact with him. so hopefully they will do something.
i am in the airport now, and should be home in the morning, and will be going straight to the police station to get some updates from them.

I'm not as concerned with getting my stuff back(it was insured), as teaching a lesson, and that lesson is , don't fuck with my shit.......

update: went to the police station on monday, the officer who took the report and is handling the case worked on sunday. and they do 48 shifts.
so i had to come back this monring.
i spoke with him, and he had been given the information, but it wasn't spelt out to him.
so i gave him a run down on what he needs to do.
just got a call from the cyber crime unit. the guy i spoke to at the ISP called them and gave them the info and explained to them what happened, even before the officer i spoke with told them what happened.

so they are now calling the officer in charge to give him the info.
FYI, this is supposed to happen the other way around. where my guy contacts them and they contact the ISP.
but i know better than to let them do there job. so i pretty much did it for them.

great news. be patient as they are still working out the whole process obviously.

at least they know enough to have a "cyber crimes unit." lol

Great news is my replacement laptop has been ordered(15" MacBook pro) and should be here tommorow. Got
My Bluetooth keyboard ready as I need to add 1500 mob by Sunday or I'm gonna have some issues ....

The officer also just called me to say he can't get through to the guy at the ISP, and I told him cybercrime is trying to find him to give him the info. Serious disconnect between the different units.
