In a plane. Whilst the stewardess isn't looking. I don't know if you get signal or not up there. Any one tried? Or is it a bit dangerous to experiment?
-
Not possible unfortunately.
-
No signal. As far as I know most planes are too high to have internet.
-
Ok. I completely believe that and thought it might be the case. But I'll try it any way. I'll let you know what flight just in case the plane plummets into a Scandinavian mountainside unexpectedly.
-
Fortunately, we live in the 21st century, and you don't need to sneak to play on the net.
Many domestic flights offerr in air wifi now.
The planes have their own routers.
You just can't use it during takeoff and landing.
One drawback- the location the router gives you will likely be where the corporate headquarters for the airline is. This may look as if you are spoofing, and you may get banned as it will place your turf in a location you are not in.
-
And you can receive cell signals on flight. The problem is though, that because of the speed of travel, you will be constantly handed off to different cell towers, which will likely prevent you from getting any kind of usable connection.
-
I was thinking the same thing. Will tmtest this for sure next week as I will be in-flight.

Won't ever crash a plane though not even during take off or landing all that is bs

Actually it's not. Mobile phone signals may cause interference with an aircrafts navigation due to weak mechanical shielding. However, more and more carriers have begun installing blockers which ensure cellular voice signals are kept separate from the aircrafts signals.Won't ever crash a plane though not even during take off or landing all that is bs

Yes it can, especially with today's heavily automated avionics. Trust me. RF is what I do.Won't ever crash a plane though not even during take off or landing all that is bs

If it were possible to take down a plane with them, the FAA would require that they be turned off and in checked baggage while you are traveling. There is no way that they would rely on the 'honor system' that you would put your phone in 'airplane mode.'. Think about it.

I was told that the cell usage just messes with the instruments. If the pilots know about the usage, they know the cause so they dont worry about the instrument malfunction. Similar to the discharge from a defibrillator on medical helicopters. That is what I was told is the reason for the no cell usage.

Mythbusters tried to test this but laws stopped them doing a flight test
-
hmmm wonder why extremist Islamic terrorists haven't brought down a plane yet with the oh so dreaded underwear mobile phone attack.

Airplane wifi has been around for a while but I don't know if it's offered on international flights..
-
In flight wifi is only available over land. The planes are equipped with routers to communicate with cell towers.
No cell tower-no wifi.
-
Ya sone restritions on wifi
-
I think mythbusters say it possiable that if u use a cell on a plane it will make the plane crash

Mythbusters never said it.
The main reason they didn't allow it was because the FCC didn't want to spend the money required to perform the necessary testing. This was left up to airlines, who also refused, as there woulkd be no return on investment.
The main reason the FCC gives for disallowing in flight mobile phone use, is because of the way cell phones work. There are only a limited number of channel;s available in each are (individual cell tower coverage). Cell phones are low powered to the point where they reach very few towers, keeping their range limited. This allows for channel reuse in adjacent areas.
A cell phone in flight, may be able to reach multiple adjacent towers, causing interference for other users on the ground, and even possibly crashing the network in that area.
-
But because of the distance to the ground, this may cause the phone to transmit at it's full power, which MAY be possible to cause interference with in flight coms.
Electronic devices and even phones have been available in flight for decades. The cockpit itself is full of electronic devices, and guess what-EVEN RADIOS!!

omg charlie! I'll never fly in those ticking electronic cellular bombs ever again.
👸gabriella👸- you fail💅
