Everything is great. If people spent more time playing the game versus complaining about it then we'd all be better off. Get out of the forum and get back on the map. That's where the game is.

I am coming up to 6 years now and still think it's a great game and my favourite iPhone game without a doubt. Sadly it is on a decline but has been for years and is still going so hopefully got a few more years yet. I never regret the stupid amounts of time and money I have put in.

Years ago I posted a similar thread about the health of TW. I remember viper replying what a dumbass I was and that TW would go on for years. He was right and I think the same still applies today.
An increasingly small group of dedicate Players (and spenders) can keep this game going for many years.

However, the game is certainly a shadow of its former self.
If you are measuring the "state of TurfWars" based on the metrics available to us, such as new players (temp codes/mob growth), community activity and "Hum" (forum postings / Palringo activity) or the gradual extinction of the long time stalwart players, then it paints a pretty bleak picture.
The last few years saw some of the largest and intense wars ever fought. But those days are long gone. The player base just isn't there anymore.
All games run their course tho. I had some great memories playing this game and I don't think there will ever be a replacement for TW.

Still the only iOS game I play. I take breaks when I get burned out, but eventually come back. I guess that's why so many reset themselves, it's addictive. I've been playing five years now. Know how many games I've played consistently for than length of time? Only 2.

... there used to be 700-1000 new players per month for years until June 2016, there are now 250-300 per month.
This is a huge drop off.
Players like me will not spend this Christmas for Brens and Turf limit which will reduce the income flowing into the game.
I've been a dedicated, decent sized player approaching my 5 year anniversary playing who will not spend this Christmas.
Love the game and effort / thought that has been put into it by the developer. It's a small piece of digital creativity he should be proud of.
However if he doesn't have the strategy or motivation to keep growing the player base, I'm not sure how it has a future that I'm willing to throw funds into.

There was a time when punching temp codes yielded 1-1.5k a week. A WEEK. It's been 1k a month for a long time, but if it's now dropped to 1k every 6 months, that doesn't paint a pretty picture.
There was a time where anyone could get involved in the longstanding world war by accident and get deeper into the game. The war would move periodically to different locations around the world and involved hundreds of players. Now starting a minor conflict with anyone >1k mob is a significant accomplishment.
There was a time when a GD forum post would be on the 2nd page by the end of the day. Now it takes a MONTH to move to the 2nd page.
There was a time when the game received actual improvements to gameplay and fixes to exploits instead of simply opening new and old airports.

There will be players asserting their dominance until the servers shut off. But I've seen popular games die off before. TW is dead. One of my favorite games once had thousands of players a day. You can play it to this day, but there are only a handful of people to play with. It started in 1995, and soldiers on even still. The continued existence of turf wars does not mean it has life. It just means the servers haven't been shut off yet.

I still like it. I can see how having another TW that starts new players and then when they reach so many mob they can graduate to the second one which is this one. That may give the noobs a chance to grow through with similar size guys

It died when airports came into the game. Pre Airport you had to hop or visit to get turf. Back then if you got capped out of a city that worked to get to or visited. You were screwed. Now you just hop on a plane and with in days you are back. This made the game loose something. Great idea at the time but long term worse idea.
Loved the game and the drama of the giant wars.

I have 312B dollars and ya game was crazy fun 4yrs ago great wars I was involved in playing. I feel the airports messed the game up not making it a GPS game but just a game. Back when you had to travel to get places now you just can go there if there is room.. I'm old school TW player when it first started when 6k was big now just crazY. FLATFACE
