I just think that if you were injured and called 911 instead of 999 and an American lady answered... You would get so confused as to what country you were in...

I was in the states with my now ex girlfriend. We were being followed by some creepy dude. Anyways it got to the point where I called 911. I got a busy signal.

If hearing an American accent there is that rare, then yes. North America has so many different accent, that it's quite normal. We have a bunch of Scots at work and when there pissed off I have no IDEA what their saying. (Glasgow accent)
