Broke into my house
Forums › General Discussion › Broke into my house-
Im currently in the proccess of moving into an apartment, and someone has already broke in and stolen easily a couple hundred dollars worth of hand-tools and such. Good thing none of my family was there when it happened. Im beyond pissed right now.

Don't move in
-
I wouldnt, but ive been waiting three years to move out of my small place right now which isnt even mine.
-
I'd wait a bit more. Getting robbed before you even get moved in us not a good sign
-
I know, and i see your point. Most of my stuff (if i even have any left) is at the new place... So im kinda stuck on moving in

Sorry to hear that. Sux when that happens. For whatever reason, your new place seemed an easy target. And it's true that most criminals may consider a 2nd time if they got away with it the 1st time.
I would do everything possible to make it less inviting like:
-an extra lock
- keep the outside well lit
-a motion sensor light
-leave on a small radio and
-use a lamp timer when not home
-make sure all windows are secure
-and if you can... an alarm system. If a system is too costly, you can get a cheap and simple motion detector alarm. (The kind used in offices- they have a chime or alarm option). Good luck!

Re: security system, As loud as possible, and if you can rig it to either notify you on your phone or place a 911 call that is a great plus. The loud noise creates that sense of urgency. alot of places use the hallways too with the mindset that they're a place that must be passed during exit and entry, or from room to room. Beyond maybe a fire safe for the valuables, there's not much else to do. Other than making plans of action with your fam, things can be replaced but the essential is always safety

In all seriousness though, Hope your security system works, another thing that I always do when I move in is get to know the neighbors, helps getting some more people on your side for when there's something suspicious going on.
Especially because most people will Be more likely to target places where there isn't anyone home, so your not likely to be there if they or someone else strikes again.
Ps you're sure you didn't just misplace the tools? 😉
-
I didnt misplace them, but i surely will be making a good security system. I think the guy who broke in was my neighbor's new bf, so i'll be making sure that she knows they will be on my radar. My gun will be my last resort.
-
If someone breaks into my house, my gun/guns are always my first option... don't fuck with my family, you don't die... simply as that
