I may not have a 10k mob, but I ran a 10k today
Forums › General Discussion › I may not have a 10k mob, but I ran a 10k today-
I heard a friend of mine was in charge of the local 5k/10k run this weekend. I had agreed to go a few times a few years ago and never did. Today, I finally did it. Not only that, but instead of the 5k, I signed up for the 10k. This course apparently was the hardest 10k course that they have in this part of the state. Either way, I didn't run the whole thing (there were a ton of big hills) but I did finish the run. I'm pretty proud of it and plan on doing more, starting next Saturday. Anyone else do any of these 5K's around their hometown????

Just bar crawls for me

Nice.
I just got back on the bike again and recently started training again. Shooting for the Nov 21 triathlon.

I used to but my work has cut my running down this last few years (and son being born..). Running is awesome and I suggest it for anyone cuz it's not only healthy but also stress reliever. I was also one of those runners who smokes cigs so hahaha

Mountain biking killed my smoking habit. Cold turkey from two packs a day.
I'm fortunate enough to live in area where i can do all my running on trails. No roads.
VERY therapeutic.

Let the young kids do the running.. Don't embarass urself.

I run and cycle, cannock chase trails :)

You're right, Charlie that stuff is therapeutic. I was a workout fiend the past two years but stopped a year ago. Lifting and cardio just took too much time. So, I really hadn't done much as of late. I think I could get into doing these runs

It's just a sprint tri. 5k on the run. I'll hold my own. It's the swim that might kill me though. If I beat just one other person in, I'll be happy.

I run Cross Country at my school (you probably already know) and I pr'd on the 5k yesterday. 20:59 from a 22:02 on a hilly course. Running is very good for stress relieving and just working out. Running 7 days a week is tough but I enjoy it. Last weekend I went up to rhode island with my team to run in the Brown Invitationals (near brown university) and even though I didn't do amazing, it was a good time hanging at the hotel and playing soccer while waiting for other races to finish. 10k is....6.2 miles right? Iv run 5ks a load of times but not 10k. I could definitly finish it cause iv run 7 miles flat before over in wisihickin (worst spelling ever) in Philly. But good job btw

I do triathalons with my friend

Good job to you Iggy. I didn't run the whole 10k without stopping, but i eventually will. That 5k time is impressive.

I'm a British troop, cover 10km in about 50mins carrying 60Ib. Good effort mate if that's your first 10km, completing it is the hardest part.

I used to run 10k 3 or 4 times per week. In about 45 mins so I'm really impressed that mayhem can do it with 60lb backpack!

I've done several 5, 10, and 15k's... Still working up the nerve to do a full marathon. My favorite race is a 15k hosted by a local pub for st patty's day. You start the race by chasing a shot with a beer. Run to a liquor store and buy a bottle of your choice. Run back to the bar with bottle in hand. The race is over when you're done chugging a pitcher of beer.

I too find running very therapeutic. I started with 10ks a couple years back and now have a few half-marathons under my belt. I'll be attempting my first full marathon this coming year.
It becomes a healthy obsession to push yourself a little more each time. Good luck with your running.

Well done mate. I used to do 10k runs for charity. Must get back into it. TW eats up my exersize time

I bike and play tennis. I have biked almost 80 miles before nonstop and I know how much of a stress relief that is, and I'm assuming running is the same.
