For some people, resetting is the only way to break an addictive behaviour. Gaming has become as legitimate an addiction as porn or gambling.

Others reset because not only do they not want to spend any more, they also wish to send a message to the game owner that their decision to no longer support the game financially is final. However sometimes they come back anyway.

Others reset to prevent their enemies from achieving the satisfaction of a defeat.

Some feel resetting is the only way to relieve the obligation they feel they have to their friends in the game.

Many regret resetting. Van apparently does not and good for him.
