Privacy VS Security
Forums › General Discussion › Privacy VS Security-
The 4th amendment states that we are protected from unreasonable search and seizure. It states that with probable cause and proper warrents, the government has the right to search and or seize. It does not say anything about privacy. The issue is not the FBIs right to search the phone. But they are not able to read erased and deleted data without the help of Apple's engineers. Also, some data automatically deletes after a period of time. The FBI wants Apple to hack this phone only. Apple states that it is not their responsibility and it sets a precedent allowing the government to force a private corporation to break its contract with its customers.

Does anybody really think that the government don't have there people who can unlock your iPhone and take the data.
Or even upload data that as been deleted . -

Most people realize if the government really had the ability to get into the phone they would have obtained a warrant and retrieved the data n the phone without making a public spectacle. However, some conspiratorial minded, tinfoil hat wearing, window licking mental midgets won't be able to grasp the obvious and will invent all sorts of asinine theories.Does anybody really think that the government don't have there people who can unlock your iPhone and take the data.

You can't change who you are. I get that. But you sure like to assert things you know nothing about. Is it so hard to just say:
"I don't know. I'm not personally involved. I certainly won't make wild accusations without evidence. The part of my brain that models the world around me is defective, and I should just keep my bizarre rants to myself."
Ahhhhh! Wouldn't that be a breath of fresh contrails!

OK let's try this.
Do you think the FBI don't have there own people who can hack into an iPhone .
Only asking your opinion because you work in WASHINGTON . -

Only asking your opinion because you work in WASHINGTON .Most people don't like to admit to the world they are incapable of doing something, unless they absolutely have too. This certainly includes the FBI, an agency that works hard to portray itself in a positive light.
If the FBI were capable of cracking the encryption on the phone, they would crack it and examine the contents of the phone and stay out of the limelight.
-
It has been reported that the phone belonged to San Bernardino county and they have granted the FBI consent to search the phone. The county's consent means there is no need for a search warrant.
Even if there was need for a warrant there appears to me to be ample probable cause to have a warrant issued to the phone's examination.
Many people in law enforcement, myself included, are more than a little pissed at the FBI for exposing to the public that iPhones cannot be accessed by available resources.
That is why I believe Apple's resistance to t opening the phone is less to do with principle and more to do with public relations, in the hopes higher profits.
-
Now every pimp, drug dealer and other criminal degenerates know to go buy an IPhone because the content on the phone is safe from examination by law enforcement.
Thanks FBI.

On average I have 2 phones examined every month. Last year the office I work in examined over 200 phones. Most were examined based on search warrants, the others through consent.
In my experience, most phones can be accessed with available technology, there are a few that cannot be easily accessed and examined. Some of those that cannot be easily accessed can be accessed by individuals with more advanced training and more sophisticated equipment than I have available to me. A very few cannot be accessed with any available technology. Those few that cannot be accessed include certain iPhones.

Yes, I work in Washington for the federal government. I do primarily large Linux server systems currently for a scientific research office under the department of commerce. Previously, I worked as an engineer with various intelligence types linking public records so we can keep track of where you live, what you buy, who lives around you, etc. before that I was in the Navy telling trident missiles what time it is so they could reliably rain atomic death EXACTLY in your back yard.Only asking your opinion because you work in WASHINGTON .
Why is it again that an uneducated foreign construction contractor knows more about the nature of my government than I do? Fine. I'm nobody. But what does that make you?
Absolutely the FBI can't unlock that phone without Apple's assistance. Duh. What special inside info do you have that says otherwise?
-
God I hate agreeing with Brown. But if the FBI did have the ability to crack that phone, why would they go on tv and look like idiots saying they can't?
