Could someone explain how capturing a turf works please?

I've tried multiple times to capture a specific turf, everything was ticked on the list and instead of "Attack" it said "Capture", I won the fight and still didn't manage to capture this turf. Since then I've given up on that specific turf but would like to know for future reference. I understand influence goes down each fight so to keep an eye on that invade theirs goes too low, but how many fights does it take to capture, or does their influence have to be high enough at the point of "Totalling" the turf that the checklist would remain ticked? I don't fully get how it works.

It takes about 7-9 straight wins to capture a turf, however, you could also lose every single fight against it and still capture it if you win the last fight. Also, make sure you meet all conditions at the bottom of the turf screen. For future reference, post questions like these in the "Help and Strategy" Forum👍🏼
